Happy - Allu Arjun + Genelia does make me happy

Bunny (Allu Arjun) is a happy-go-lucky guy who looks at the positives in life. Madhu (Genelia D'Souza) is the only child of the strict policitian father (Tanikella Bharani). She attends college to fulfill her mother's dream of her becoming a doctor. Although Bunny and Madhu dislike each other, he helps her avoid an arrange marriage so she could continue school. However, things turn chaotic when Bunny lies to the fiance (Manoj Bajpai) that Bunny and Madhu are lovers. But they hate each other! What happens?

Having seen Bunny and Aarya already, I had to get all of Allu Arjun's films. Happy was released in 2006 but the original dvd wasn't officially out until early 2008. So I waited and got Desamuduru and Gangotri, Bunny's debut film, as well since it was released officially on dvd around the same time.

Allu Arjun's character is Bunny, yet again. Ironically, Bunny is his real-life nickname. Although he may never be great in a serious role, let him just play the fun, energetic, youthful guy. Comparing Allu Arjun in Happy to his other films in Aarya and Bunny, I love his character Bunny in Happy the most. In all his films, he's usually the romantic, action hero. I fell in love with Bunny because he's funny yet charming. I like the way he teases Madhu.

Saying it numerous times before, Allu Arjun is my favorite Telugu actor. Not because he's a great actor. It's because I find him good looking and an energetic dancer. So what I'm shallow here, hehehe. I know it takes more than a good-looking actor for some people to fall head over heels for. But as long as I find him entertaining, that's all that matters. Every time he dances, he mezmorizes and seduces me with his facial expressions. I'm in love with his youthful outfits. I'm in my early 30s but still love me some teeny-bopper moments. Maybe growing up Hmong, caught between American customs, I wanted to have that young love I see in Indian cinema. Wishing my prince charming could sweep me off of my feet, I never got that chance. Sure, I found my soul mate - I think so since I married him, LOL. Just didn't have that young, sweet, innocent love that I have seen in movies.

Madhu is caught between her dying mother's last wish for her to be a doctor and her stern father who doesn't care for her education. I was kind of confuse by Madhu who wants to be this independent woman but is unable to stand up on her own.

Having only seeing Genelia in Sachien (watched it cause of Bips!!) at that time, I thought she was adorable. Little did I know, she has already been in a few Hindi films such as Masti, opposite Ritiesh Deshmukh. She is young and beautiful. Her smile reminds me of Hrishtaa Bhatt who I think looks like Hollywood star Alyssa Milano too.

Manoj Bajpai was a pleasure to see. This guy is very underrated in Hindi cinema already. His character DCP S. Arvind is a tough cop but had a soft side. Just seeing the serious-looking guy who made you laugh without any stupid remarks or facial expressions makes you love Manoj more. He had me laughing so hard!



Madhu's stern politician father, Suryam, cares more about castes and surnames than his daughter and her education.



Madhu's grandmother who believes in Madhu and wants her to be the best she can be. She reassures Madhu that her mother, if living, would be so proud.

Happy is definitely my favorite Allu Arjun film! It had a good balance of comedy and romance. The scenes between Bunny/Madhu's dislike for each other is very cute and done very well. The action scenes showed Bunny's flexible fight moves. I only cringe at the ending because it was way OTT! Plus what I didn't like about the movie is the subplots of Madhu's father and the politics. Everything else was great - Allu Arjun, Genelia, Manoj Bajpai, songs, chemistry, dances, etc.

Music is entertaining. I'm loving the Telugu language more and more everyday now. Uploaded songs on YouTube with English subs. Again, watch Allu Arjun's dance moves. Amazing! I need to update my neglected Allu Arjun website.

A lot of Telugu videos on YouTube do not have English subs so I uploaded them on YouTube with English subs. YouTube quality isn't the best but at least you will definitely see Allu Arjun's charm and dancing skills.

Sadly, this isn't the case anymore since my YouTube videos were taken down but I have replaced them...why were my videos targeted? Whatever!
