So I will talk about Ghajini. I'm excited for this movie. I don't usually run to the theater to watch movies but I will with Ghajini. I just recently went to watch Dostana in the theater because John hasn't released a single movie this year, so I was missing him.
Aamir Khan
Is there any other reasons? He is my absolute favorite actor! I haven't been disappointed in any of his films in such a looooong time. I don't remember the last time I was disappointed. It was definitely over a decade (or more) ago! He gets extra points for always trying out something different. Go Aaaamir!
Storyline
Sure, it's inspired by the original Tamil version, which was inspired by the Hollywood movie, Memento. I looooooved Memento. Those of you who have not seen Memento, please go see it! I have not seen the Tamil version but really want to. It has Surya who I was very impress with in Ayutha Ezhuthu. Looking at posters of Surya, I can not believe it's the same guy. Edited - 12/11/2008 - I saw the Tamil version of Ghajini - looooved it! Can't wait to see Aamir's take on it.
Music
Wonderful music!!!! Especially the lyrics. If you haven't listen to any of it, you're missing out! As a non-Hindi speaker, I find theBollywoodFan's blog very useful for English translations. Check them out!
Production
As a die-hard fan of Allu Arjun, I was dumb not to realize that Geetha Arts is producing Ghajini. Why does it matter to me? Well, Geetha Arts is Allu Arjun's father, Allu Aravind's, production company!
Whoa, this is the Hindi version of "Memento"? !!! I'm now even more excited to see this than before--"Memento" rocked!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that its an Aamir film reassures me that this will be done right!
Great pics! I love the one with Aamir's shirt unbuttoned...lol...i think that's Asin he's with?

ReplyDeleteNida - Yes, Ghajini is the Indian version of Memento. I know!!!! It rocks. I can't wait to see it. Now, I eagerly also want to see the Tamil version. You're right about Aamir. Can't be disappointed in him. Yes, that's Asin with him. She was also the heroine in the Tamil version as well. I wish you lived nearby. We both could go watch this film together!!
ReplyDeletetheBollywoodFan - it's no problem at all! Your blog need more mentions anyways. It's very useful and resourceful. Memento is an awesome movie! You will not be disappoint! Having Aamir to play in the lead is a plus. I was slow about the Geetha Arts connection too, hehehe. Another reason why I'm going to watch this movie in the theater and support it!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it either! I made a whole bunch of avatars from the promotional stills today and was getting all excited about the movie while I worked on them. LOL
ReplyDeleteShould of known Aamir wouldn't just do anything copycat...that's why I'm so excited...he'll totally make it his own and it'll probably be better!
ReplyDeleteI wish we could all go see it together too! Can't wait for our future blogger meet!
Bollywood Fan--You should still see Memento! I think you'd like it a lot!
theBollywoodFan - Thanks for that tidbit from Aamir. You know, I couldn't help it but I managed to watch the Tamil version last night. If you want, you could watch it online since that's how I was able to watch it. It does take on the most part of Memento, like the memory loss and writing to remember it. But Ghajini (Tamil) definitely was done tailored to the Tamil audience. It's been almost a decade (or more) since I've seen Memento. I'm thinking about renting it this weekend again.
ReplyDeleteajnabi - I know. I'm eagerly waiting!!!
Nida - I'm super-excited! Especially last night after watching the Tamil version.
