So what is this hype around Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Why not? It's an Aamir Khan Production. First of all, it debuts Aamir's nephew, Imraan Khan, who by the way looks really cute in the promos. Add in Genelia, the girl from South Indian cinema that I enjoy -- Happy, Sachein, Bommarilu. On top of that, Prateik Babbar, the son of Raj Babbar and the late Smita Patel.
Jai (Imraan Khan) and Aditi (Genelia D'Souza) are best friends throughout college. When Aditi's parents suggest to Jai's mother that Jai and Aditi should marry. Both are disgusted at the idea. Instead, they both will help find each other's soul mate for them.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na just looked like a cute, young, modern love story. And that's exactly what it is. Anytime you have a guy and a girl who spend so much time together, both will end up having feelings for each other. I guarantee that. You don't realize you are in love until you see that person with someone else. That's usually when you know you're in love. With that in mind, I also love the two best friends surrounded by friends. From beginning to end, they all were there for each other.
You can not go wrong with Aamir Khan. This man has proven his perfectionalism.
Jai. Nickname from Aditi - "Rats." Best friend of Aditi. One of the most peaceful non-violent Rajput ever. When he finally falls in love, he wants to sing "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" to his love.
Imran is so cute. Natural at acting. I'm looking forward to his other films.
I just think he looks so adorable. He's good looking and has that clean-cut look. I prefer guys with stubs, ahem John Abraham and Allu Arjun.
Aditi. Nickname from Jai - "Meow." Best friend of Jai. A sassy, don't-mess-with-me gal. She wants to fall in love with a manly stud who will fight for her.
The more I watch Genelia's films, the more I like her. She is slowly creeping up to one of my favorite rising actresses of this generation. Her voice seems deeper when she speaks in Hindi.
Genelia - please do more films like this. I really like you as the sassy girl. I think you and Shahid would've rocked together in Jab We Met as well.
Jai's mother (Ratna Pathak). I really like her and she made an impression on me. She seems so cool and down to earth. I hope Ratna Pathak will be in more Bollywood films. On a side note, I read that in real life, she is married to Naseeruddin Shah.
Lookie -- it's Naseeruddin Shah. He plays Jai's late father in the film.
Aditi's parents - Jayant Kripalani & Anuradha Patel
Aditi's younger brother, Amit.
I did say I don't like the clean-cut look on guys. I prefer Prateik Babbar's look over Imraan's. Me wants to see more of you Prateik.
Meghna (Manjari Phadnis) - Jai's girlfriend. I think she looks like Rimi Sen.
Sushant (Ayaz Khan) - Aditi's fiance.
And how can I forget the friends that surrounds Jai and Aditi?
I love them all hanging out.
Inspector Waghmare (Paresh Rawal)
Bhalooo (Sohail Khan ) & Bhaggera (Arbaaz Khan) - the two trouble maker cowboys. Hilarious. I like Sohail in silly roles like this with either one of his brothers.
Music - I enjoyed it. Modern twist.
Song #1 - "Kabhi Kabhi Aditi"
Jai tries to cheer up Aditi.

Overall, the movie is worth a watch. I got my share of enough eye candy. The film is modern and youthful. It's like a fresh of breath air.
I have to admit that when I first saw the film, I was annoyed by Aditi at bit. But the more I thought about it, I think I am like her. Think about it. It's easy to criticize a character on screen but when you are in that situation, you are probably going to react the same way. We, females, always imagine our prince charming to be someone totally different from who we actually really fall in love with.

Finally,
ReplyDeleteYou have seen this brilliant movie. I loved loved loved Aditi in this. As this is the only movie where i seen her.
Imran is good. Really promising he looks. I loved moment, when he sees Aditi being kissed by her fiance. He looked like a puppy.
That last paragraph you have written, is really good. Are you like Aditi??? You must know some swear words,, no?? Fattooo...tu...teri maa,,...tera khandan fatto...harami...
LOL. just joking. I loved Aditi for that, WILD WILD nature.
Oops..did i forget to mention brilliant act by Amit-prateik babbar? Aditi and he suited best as fighting siblings.
ReplyDeleteNicki--
ReplyDeleteFinally we get our review. JK! Good to have you back!:) We missed ya!
Anyhoo, I loved this movie too! I thought it was just so adorable. And I think I liked every single cast member, too!
Great shot of Imraan in that second screencap--he's such a cutie pie! But you're right, Prathak Babbar is hot too! I think they're both really good looking, just in different ways.
Darshit - I know. It took me a while to finally see this film, huh? Imran is definitely very adorable. You should watch Genelia in her Telugu/Tamil films. She is always great. Hahaha. Well, I say I'm like Aditi in the sense that I"m stubborn and hard-headed, and can be loud-mouth too. Oh gosh, I can't wait to see more of Prateik Babbar.
ReplyDeleteNida - LOL! I know. It's great to be back but I felt this review wasn't that great. I let a week go by without writing the review, that's why.

ReplyDeleteThough hardly original, I thought this was a really fun movie. My 1 quibble was that I wanted MORE Ratna and Naseer! They were so fun and cute together- just not enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteImraan is a cutie, but I thought he looked hotter when he was all grim in Kidnap. ;-) Nice screencaps as always--I can't wait for Netflix to finally get off its rear and get the film for me. LOL

ReplyDeletetheBollywoodFan - I can not wait to see more of Prateik Babbar!! Thanks for the info. It would've been cute to see Aamir and Sallu though, hehehe. I'm still around. :D
ReplyDeleteShweta - Aaaaw, that's true, more of Ratna and Naseer.
ajnabi - I have to see Kidnap. I'm sooo behind!!
Cool review Nicki!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this, I thought it was a very cute Bollywood romantic comedy. And I still dance around to the Pappu song. Looking forward to more movies with all the actors from this one.
Gauri - it was cute! Love the music
ReplyDeleteYou forgot my favorite line:
ReplyDelete"The terrorist is meowing."
Modern rom-coms will have to adjust to security measures in their own way, and JTYJN did a good job.
Kaitlyn - you're right, now a re-watch must be done! :)
