Mounam Pesiyadhe means "The silence spoke" in Tamil. While Gautham (Surya) laughs at the idea of being in love and that it's a waste of time, his friend Kannan (Nandha) falls in love with every woman he meets. Ironically enough, Kannan has been engaged to Sandhya (Trisha) since birth but both do not love each other but are in love with other people. Not by chocie, Gautham is always chosen to be the news breaker because of his disbelief in love. Will Kannan and Sandhya ever be with the ones they love? Will Gautham ever find love? Or will he always brush off being in love? Is it possible for him to ever be in love?
Gautham. Why do you not want to fall in love at all? Why do you brush it off? Is it because your friend Nandha falls for every woman he sees and declares it love even though he is engaged? Instead of showing people your caring side, you rather show them your rowdy side, making them fear you instead of caring for you. We know how much your guy friends adore you, but let us females love you too. Let them see that soft, sensitive side.
Surya. Surya. Surya. Mounam Pesiyadhe is one of your earlier films. You are just too fine. Then and now. That's why I adore you. All the films I've seen of you has always been diverse showing off your talent.
Surya! Can this man get any hotter? He was already really good looking in his earlier films but now, he is just irresistible. Plus he is packing on the rocking abs and is so fit. I've said it before that I'm going to try to watch his earlier films. Yeah, that's how much I've turned into a fan girl. Surya is my ultimate favorite Indian actor. I love him for his good looks, great personality, diverse acting, and more! So when my friend who helps me with finding me South Indian films told me she was able to find Mounam Pesiyadhe, heck yeah, I wanted to see it. Good or bad film of Surya, I don't care at all! I do have to admit that he was a bit chunkier in this film but he sure can still dance! My other Surya reviews - Ayutha Ezhuthu, Ghajini, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Unnai Ninaithu, Kaakha Kaakha, Vaaranam Aayiram.
Sandhya is the sweet, girl-next-door who doesn't want to marry Nandha because her heart belongs to someone else. Just because she has been engaged since birth does not mean anything to her.
Trisha is so freaking adorable! I was never a big fan of hers but I absolutely love her in this film. She has that natural beauty and cute, bubbly, sassy persona that I like. Although she disagrees with her parent's decision about her future, she is not afraid to speak her mind. The more films I watch of Trisha, the more I want to see her.
Kannan is engaged to Sandhya but is in love with Maha. Strangely enough, he seems to be in love with almost every woman he sees. Mounam Pesiyadhe is Nandha's debut film. He does a decent job but the film belonged to Surya all the way.
Maha loves Kannan and wants to be with him. Gautham scares her since he dislikes being in love. Newcomer Mahalakshmi is okay.
Laila in a special guest role. Won't review her role :)
Mounam Pesiyadhe has good songs and makes you wanna dance.

Look, Pepsi product placement!
Mounam Pesiyadhe is only worth it if you're a fan of Surya. No kidding. The movie had great potential. I just felt that instead of letting it be a love story of a guy finding love, why he snubs at the idea of falling in love, he is introduced as a heartless guy who beats up others up. Surya's intro looks like a rowdy beating up guys. The film also seemed to focused much on his loyalty to his friends instead of why he doesn't want to fall in love. His character, Gautham, is flaky. However, Trisha's character, Sandhya, knows what she want she wants and goes for it. Overall, it isn't a horrible film but worth it for Surya, the songs, and even Trisha, if you're a fan.
I'm not sure whether to recommend his debut film, Nerukku Ner, to you Nicki, as there's a lot of posturing between his and Vijay's characters.
ReplyDeleteThen again, Simran's in this one two, in one her earliest Tamil films.
Check out Manam Virumbuthe on youtube...
Nicki,
ReplyDeleteYou ask "Surya! Can this man get any hotter?" I say "No, already too hot!"
I will have to catch up on my Surya viewing. I still haven't seen his Ghajini. Thanks for reminding me of him again.
All the best!
Sita-ji
Nicki, doesn't Trisha look like the girl who played Siddhu's fiancee in Bommarillu? I think that was a different actress though. You're right, Surya is awesome (looking).
ReplyDeleteHmmm...piyaara, I'm not a fan of Vijay but I do think he's charming. Him and Surya in one movie? That I gotta see!! Thanks for the heads up. Definitely will check it out.
ReplyDeleteSita-ji - I'm loving Surya more and more!! Can not wait to read what you have to say about Surya's Ghajini.
ajnabi - Oh no, hahaha. Trisha and Sid are in NVNV, you have to check it out.
Surya is just tooo hot to handle :)
