I haven't blogged in forever. Sorry for the lack of updates.
Last time was a mini-review on 12/11/2009. I could do another one since I've seen several films since then, even tweeted about it.
I'm also not going to tweet that much anymore either. For the past few weeks, I've been having trouble logging in. When I'm finally on, it takes me forever to catch up. Maybe in a few days (or weeks), I will clean up and tweet again. In addition, I tried texting from my phone, and it hasn't been going through.
Oh my goodness, I haven't posted the pictures up from seeing Jay Sean! I did *not* get the chance to meet him this time :( But it was good to be there. The pictures are posted on FaceBook for those who are my friends.
I had this list for a month but haven't published it here in Blogworld. Bollywhat had a thread to list their 10 films of the decade but instead listed them for each year. I thought that was different and decided to tackle it myself so here it goes...
2000
Mission Kashmir
2000 is the year of Hrithik Roshan. Even though Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was more well know, I preferred Mission Kashmir instead. It touched on the sensitive topic of Kashmir. Although I would have liked to see more of Hrithik-Preity, the songs made up for it.
2001
Dil Chahta Hai
One of my fave films ever. Lagaan comes a close second. I could just watch Dil Chahta Hai over and over. Aamir rules, still! The modern male bond is what made the film. I swear after DCH, Saif was in better films, but what happened Akshu?
2002
Raaz
Bollywood finally made a good horror. Of course, the Bhatt's rule with music. Oh yeah, it starts my fave gal, Bips! I have blogged about it with screencaps :)
2003
Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula
The year that gave us Koi Mil Gaya, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Ek Hasina Thi, Munnabhai MBBS...and I decided to choose a film that hardly anyone knows, right? Got that right!! It is such a cute love the story. I blogged a bit about it before for one of my fun posts.
2004
Swades
Fave film of Shahrukh. If you haven't seen it yet, why not?
2005
Karam
Fave John Abraham film ever. I have blogged about it with screencaps :)
2006
Pyaar Ke Side Effects
Just like the other "pyaar" movie I listed in 2003, I picked another film that no one would have thought I would. Just like that, I even blogged a bit about it before for one of my fun posts. I loved the modern love story, never thought Rahul Bose-Mallika Sherawat jodi would work.
2007
Taare Zameen Par
Aamir is a genius, nothing more I can say, I looove it. Some thoughts were blogged :)
2008
Jodhaa Akbar
A longer-than-usual epic movie but worth it for me. Some thoughts were blogged :)
2009
Wake Up Sid
I swear, I freaking looooove this film, saw it at least 10 times. I tweeted about it so much also. Ranbir is close to knocking John Abraham off my love list :) 2009 is the year for Ranbir (although I know he ain't gonna get an award for it). Still haven't seen Rocket Singh but saw Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, thought it was cute.
For 2009, my top 5 fave films are....
5. Kaminey
mini-review
4. Dev D
mini-review
3. Tum Mile
Nothing blogged yet but need to
Emraan is underrated and underappreciated
2. Luck By Chance
mini-review
1. Wake Up Sidlook above, Ranbir
Didn't want to go all the way to 10 yet. Still waiting to watch Rocket Singh, 3 Idiots, Kurbaan, Paa, and a few others??

Nice rank :)
ReplyDeleteSwades? I've seen it in September, it was bit boring and too pathetic, but I liked it much more than Laagan, which I founded totally not-for-me.
I was wondering about your hiatus frequently, but I understand it :)
WUS!! I loved it! I've even done a pic spam, a thing which I only with my most, most loved movies^^
Loved going through this, itotally hated Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab kahani it was way too loud and silly for me, i think Swades had to be my fave SRK film as well however its not a film i would watch over and over again, so i guess i would call it my favourite SRK performance.
ReplyDeletei saw Dil Chahta Hai a long time, and i just thought it was ok, i guess i need to rewatch, it was one of the earlier films i watched when i started falling in love with bollywood, perhaps i'd enjoy it more now
Great to see you back Nicki! Good list you have there - some unusal movies too. Never heard of Rules. WUS indeed was a very good movie. Rocket Singh was good too - keeps you engaged throughout. Paa is also an excellent movie
ReplyDeleteRandom question from someone new to blogging:
ReplyDeleteHow did you make your banner head?
I've tried but mine uploads to big and it looks stupid.
ps like your top five though I haven't seen Dev D and I'm not sure I will, it's a remake of a remake and in the end the boy doesn't even get the girl!
I saw both rocket singh and Wake up sid and loved both of them they were excellent movies ! Ranbir kapoor is definitely one of my new favorites:-)
ReplyDeleteI love that 2009 was such a good year to two of my favorite heroes, Shahid and Ranbir. I love love love WUS too, but I'm surprised it was your favorite! Cool choice though, I'm not criticizing. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey. I was here about a year ago looking for Ahista Ahista. Just wondering if you've found the DVD yet. Thanks. =)
ReplyDeleteHi Nicki,
ReplyDeleteThis is off-topic, but the only Indian films I have access to are Bollywood films so I'm not familiar with actors from other Indian movie industries. Do you know of any cute actors in Tamil, Telugu or other South Indian films that are hot/sexy/cute/handsome other than Allu Arjun? I found this guy named Sandesh, but that's all. I'm sure I found another, but I forgot his name.
Thanks!
Louella - I'm still on hiatus a bit, lol. Yes, WUS is awesome! Still my fave so far.
ReplyDeletebollywooddeewana - :( I reallyi liked Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, don't mind the silliness, sometimes I want some of that.
DCH, I usually get people into Bollywood with the film, seriously, those who want more modern Bollywood
Filmbuff - Thanks, not totally back yet. I am almost finish watching Rocket Singh. 2009 is a good year for Ranbir.
I have Paa but haven't watched it yet.
dink213 My banner heading? I used photoshop, my banner really sucks though cause I'm to lazy to do more advance things in photoshop. I would suggest using a header with the right dimensions...also, the format layout does matter.
Watch Dev D, it's different from the other Devdas :)
S - Ranbir is one of my faves too! He is so talented...and good looking
ajnabi - What is your fave film of 2009? :) Yes, 2009 was good for Shahid too
CrazyAmy - No, I haven't. Sorry
Anon - I wanted to blog about hotties in Tamil and Telugu film industry....maybe I'll do that soon...but yes, ALLU ARJUN!!!!
Okay. Well thanks. I'll keep checking in. If you're interested in purchasing the VCD I recently settled for it on Induna.com. Superfast shipping I might say. Just gotta watch it old school style with no subtitles. haha
ReplyDeleteCrazyAmy - you must have not read my post on Ahista Ahista yet :)
