Santosh (Siddharth) is a hyper, energetic, carefree London NRI. He goes to his cousin Lalita's (Veda) wedding in India and meets Siri (Trisha). At first Sri was annoyed with the bubbly Santosh, overtime she slowly starts to fall in love with him. Since Santosh is from a wealthy family, Sri's family background is frowned upon the other rich people around. Sri and her brother Shivaram (Srihari) live in a village. Santosh must first prove Shivaram that his love for Sri is pure and genuine. Giving up the riches he grew up with, Santosh must live the way Shivaram and Siri do. Will Santosh get his love?
I've heard read so many positive reviews on this film. First of all, it stars Siddharth. While most of the girls were crushing and drooling for the Jesus-lookalike-twin Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor in Rang De Basanti, I had my eyes set on the cute, adorable Siddarth. During the Rang De Basanti time, I haven't watched any non Hindi/Indian films yet. Since one of my friends sent me Telugu films such as Bunny and Aarya, he also sent Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. Not realizing it was the same Siddharth who I saw in Rang De Basanti, I watched Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and it became one of my favorite Telugu film till date
Siddharth has this boyish, innocent look which attracted me. With Aamir, the perfectionist, stepping aside and let all the newcomers shine just as bright as he did in Rang De Basanti, Siddharth debuts in Hindi cinema very well. Everyone was equally brilliant in his/her own ways. Who is this Siddharth guy? I looked him up and he already has done Tamil and Telugu films. He's in the famous Ayuha Ezhuthu, also known as the Hindi version as Yuva. Trisha is opposite in Ayutha Ezhuthu with Siddharth also.
I definitely have "Something Something" for Siddharth. He is just too adorable. Santosh is a combination of Raj (Shahrukh Khan) from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Prem (Salman Khan) from Maine Pyar Kiya, and Suraj (Salman Khan) from Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Some people criticized Siddharth's puffy, long hair. Hey, if Shahrukh got away with his mullet in DDLJ, why can't Siddharth? You can argue that DDLJ was back in the 90s while NN isn't. However, long hair is coming back in style again.
Since Santosh's character personality definitely borrows from Raj (Shahrukh Khan) from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Prem (Salman Khan) from Maine Pyar Kiya, and Suraj (Salman Khan) from Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana borrows from the storyline as well. Here are some similarities in NN compareted to DDLJ, PKTDK, and MPK. In DDLJ and PKTDK, the heroines Simran (Kajol) and Muskaan (Kajol) both thought the heroes in the beginning half of the film were annoying but slowly start to fall for them. In PKTDK, Muskaan has an older brother who loves her and takes care of her. In DDLJ, Raj (Shahrukh) is a NRI who follows his heart and goes to India to get his love and sees the cowbell that Simran left. In PKTDK, the older brother (Arbaaz) throws out Suraj (Salman) when he first comes to the village. Again in PKTDK, Muskaan's childhood friends describes Suraj's looks because she sees him coming. In PKTDK and MPK, Suraj (Salman) and Prem (Salman) has to prove his love by living the way the villagers do. In MPK, Suman's (Bhagyashree) love for Prem gets belittled by saying she is a poor villager who traps Prem into loving her and her father comes in. These are just a few similarities from these three films. Of course NN is special in its own way. If you've never seen a Telugu/Tollywood film, this movie is definitely a good start for newbies.
Trisha has a natural beauty. She is simple with minimal makeup and hair pulled back most of the time. She's in good shape and has nice skin. Her smile reminds me of Amisha Patel and her nose reminds me of Kajol. At first I didn't like her acting but while watching it again, she's not bad. I would definitely watch another film with her because I think she's cute. Her character Siri is definitely one to fall in love with.
Siri is a simple village girl who is attending one of her childhood best friend's wedding. Although she is not wealthy like her best friend's family members, her heart is rich enough for many to fall in love with her. Her small family only consist of her older brother and her.
Shivaram (Srihari) is Siri's older loving brother. Since Siri and him were orphans at a young age, he worked hard to give the best lives for them.
Srihari is great and impressed me a lot. He was tough on Santosh but had a sweet side too.
Lalita (Veda) is the childhood best friend of Siri. Since her wedding day would be very memorable, she wanted her best friend to share it with her.
Veda is the sweet friend of Siri. I love these supporting actresses!
Prakaj (Prakash Raj) is Santosh's carefree, cool father and best friend.
Santosh's stern mother Geeta (Jaaniki) who wears the pants in the family.
Nandita Thakur (forgot her name in the movie, was it even said??) is the girl who is in love with Santosh. Her father wants her to marry Santosh because both are from wealthy families. Honestly, I didn't see her liking Santosh at all. She felt jealous when she saw Santosh and Siri together but I felt that's only because she had competition.
She's gorgeous and has a nice body. I always find the rich snobby girls in Hindi cinema, as it seems Telugu too, being modern, stylish, wealthy, and shows skin. While good girls are simple, plain, poor, and wears traditional outfits - Siri.
JP (Jaya Prakash Reddy) wants his daughter to marry Santosh. He and Prakash are business partners.
The guy who is in love with Siri. I don't remember his name but I didn't understand his significance to the film until later on. He was a creepy, non-talkative fellow.
Beautiful place where Siri and Shivaram live. You call this poor? It seems poor compared to the modern living of Santosh and Lalita, I guess.
The famous toy that Siri loves.
Music of Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana is beautiful!! I love how the Telugu language is spoken and sung.

This is one of my favorite movies ever! Siddharth is adorable, not just his looks but the personality of his character Santosh completely won my heart. Why can't a cute, sweet, funny guy like him fall in love with me, huh? :-D
And the songs are really good...I think this is the soundtrack I listen to most often these days. Adhire Adhire is so much fun!
(I found your blog through BollyWhat, by the way...I'm mainhoonemily on there!)
Hey Emily! Thanks for visiting! I know, I am so in love with NVNV. Definitely my fave Tollywood films. If you haven't you have to see the Hindi films where NVNV takes references from - DDLJ, PKTDK, and MPK.
NN was directed by the best dancer and choreographer of Indian cinema, Prabhu Deva. This was his first directorial venture yet he gained success. The next one was Pokiri, Tamil version with Vijay also a super hit. Do you know that he choreographed the song Main Aisa Kyun Hoon for Hrithik Roshan in Lakshya and won National Award for it. He is very versatile.
mohanavanan - I found out about Prabhu Deva being the director only after I watched the film. However, I did know he choreographed the music.
I really like the original Telugu Pokiri so I don't want to watch the Tamil version. But I did skim through the film. I simply love Mahesh Babu too much. Plus I'm not a huge fan of Vijay.
I did know about PD choreographing "Main Aisa Kyon Hoon" for Hrithik. Hrithik seems to imitate him very well.
