AA, JA, & SS - --why I love (B-K-T)ollywood!

Had these pics in my computer folder at home. Must share for others who are shallow like me.

Bollywood

John endorsing Wrangler jeans with his own signature in them. Yes, they are John Abraham jeans. Made in India. Can they be sold in the USA? I'll make my hubby wear them! LOL!!

So happy to see your hot, chiseled body in Dostana. Can not wait to see you again.

But when is Aashayien ever going to release?

Kollywood

Photos of Surya in his upcoming film, Ayan.

OMG, I think I will get to see this film in the theater! Tamil and Telugu films were hit the theater. I'm just wondering if they will have English subs. On Saturday, when I went to watch Aa Dekhen Zara, I saw Siddarth's film, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, playing! I was shocked!

Or maybe it's Tamanna that is attracting the theater to play Kollywood films? Hmmm, cause she's in both Ayan & Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam.

Surya, keep on rocking the abs. Maybe you'll attract more people to watch Tamil films! What's great cause the last film, Vaaranam Aayiram, you rocked it too and continuing to do so!

Tollywood

Allu Arjun
. When is Parugu ever going to release on DVD?

The last time I saw you was in Desamuduru, where you were looking mighty fine.

You are the reason why I opened my eyes to watching South Indian films. Not only are you hawt, you mesmerize me when you dance.

Indian men make me weak in the knees.

Pritam & Anu Malik, the copycats...

Inspired from previous post about Pritam's music being great to listen to only after learning he is a copycat.

I've been keeping up with what I've learn about his songs being copied from other languages. Some of the songs that were "inspired" from English music, I knew about. When I used to post videos on YouTube, I would get comments letting me know that some songs I posted were copied and then have a link with the original song.

If any of the links are broken, just let me know. I'll re-add links. Majority of links are from YouTube.

These are just a few!!!! I'm tired! LOL

Aa Dekhen Zara - SciFi thriller flick with Neil & Bips

Yah, I finally got to go watch Bips on the big screen again. It's actually been a while since she had any films released, last one being Baachna Ae Haseeno

As I mentioned on my previous post, I didn't plan to watch Aa Dekhen Zara because I wanted to go hiking with the family. Yesterday, it was raining nonstop! So the plans got canceled and took my daughter for a 4-miler and then headed out to eat some yummy Indian food! She told me that she and I have to eat Indian food every week. Now, that would be nice. However, maybe we could do it on a monthly basis instead. :)

The Palace
is our favorite Indian restaurant in Atlanta! The best! I've eaten at several other Indian restaurants before but nothing compares to The Palace. Their buffet consists of so many varieties -- chicken masala tikka, tandoori chicken, samosa, masala dosai, chaat, etc -- just to list a few! What I love about them is that the waiter never ask if you need a refill, they automatically refill and bring you fresh, hot naan every time! Gosh, I love this place!!!!
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/John.jpg

In addition, the restaurant is next to the Indian cinema theater. We went to the first show of Aa Dekhen Zara. Waiting for the film to start, I decided to pick up ADLABS magazine of The Plot, March 2009, with John Abraham on the cover. Heck yeah! My hottie! When we first sat in the theater, we were the only ones there. Oh no!! After 10 minutes more people came to watch but still not a sold-out show. But I didn't care. I came there for Bips. :)

The only trailer that showed any forthcoming film was Kambakkt Ishq. Does not look like I would want to go watch that! Looks stupidly funny, not worth a theater watching unless you're a die-hard Akki or Bebo fan. Anytime you have once-hot Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards in a Bollywood film, no way am I rushing to see it!

With nothing going on in his life, the struggling photographer, Ray Achara (Neil Nitin Mukesh), hopes his fate would change one day. When his grandfather passes away, he inherits a camera, which he needed badly since his was stolen. What Ray never realize is he can not set a current date on the camera, but only future dates. With just a click of a button, the developed photos show the future - whatever he has set the date and time to. While going through the future clicked photos, he realized there were some potential danger for some of the people that were in the photos when he was clicking randomly.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/adz1.jpg

One of them being his neighbor, Simi, the aspiring singer who works as a DJ. After saving Simi's life, Ray enters her heart. He wants to give her the best things but he's still struggling to find a decent job. One day, he thought about using the camera for good use to help him get some cash. Although he was cashing in money, he started to ignore Simi, which drifted them apart.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/adz2.jpg

While his love life is failing, two other people want this camera. How do they know about this camera? To make matters worse, Ray's photo was clicked and showed his fated doom, just like his grandfather.

Rest of the film is trying to change his fate and run away from the two people who want the camera and may be a threat to his life.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/adz3.jpg

Originally titled Freeze, Aa Dekhen Zara is a fast-paced thriller that keeps you at the edge of your seat. That's what I love about it. However, after the intermission, the pace is still great but the script is weak. If you want a brainless, fun, fast-paced thriller, than the film is worth it for that. Or watch it if you're a Neil and/or Bipasha fan. If you want to analyze and nitpick the flaws of the weak script in the second half, then forget it, don't waste your time.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/neil.jpg

Neil had a lot to live up to. Especially after Johnny Gaddar. Why haven't we seen him since then? Was he being that picky about his roles? He has several films lined up this year - New York (with John Abraham & Katrina Kaif), Tera Kya Hoga Johnny (with Kay Kay Menon & Soha Ali Khan), Jail (with Manoj Bajpai & Mugdha Godse).

I thought Neil was great. Aa Dekhen Zara is definitely his movie all the way. The weak script had nothing to do with his acting. But I am sure others will down on him for that.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/Bips.jpg

Bipasha's beau, John Abraham, encouraged her to be in the film. Her look of her character, Simi, from Aa Dekhen Zara reminded me of the young Radhika in Bachna Ae Haseeno. With the Rockstar style and wanting to be a singer, it is almost identical to the young Radhika. Just like the young Radhika, Bips also played the slightly older woman. Shoot, with a figure like Bips, she can play a sexy cougar anyday!

Even though Bips was mainly the love interest in the film, what I love about her is she chooses characters that aren't bimbo-ish or dumb. Simi spoke her mind and was strong.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/adz5.jpg

Some people may have complained about Neil and Bipasha's "lack of chemistry." But you got to think again, what kind of film this is. It's suppose to be a SciFi thriller. Not only that, just because they didn't have any intimate scenes may have made some people think that they had no chemistry. Regardless, both were comfortable with each other and glad to see Bips on the big screen again.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/adz4.jpg

To me, the film was entertaining. It was fun. You got Neil. You got Bipasha. That's enough for me to watch the film.

If you want to think further, then this is what you get....
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/rahuldev.jpg

Who the heck is this "captain" guy who wants the camera. There is really no back story on him. He comes out no where knowing about the camera.

Rahul Dev is the perfect bad guy. He excels in them.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Aa%20Dekhen%20Zara/sophie.jpg

Then there's also Sophie who is interested and wants Ray to be a part of her "business."

Sophie Chaudry is wasted and is just there for eye candy. Why does she play these short, stupid roles?

Both Rahul and Sophie's characters just wasn't given enough information to be liked more. The script failed there.

My daughter liked the movie a lot and was entertained. And so was I. We loved the songs. She even wants me to put the soundtrack on her IPOD!

Yeah, I know Pritam is a copycat. You don't want me to start on my list of Bollywood music that has copied from other places...most of the list is Pritam too!

Bipasha Basu - still my #1 girl crush

Everyone who knows me how much I love and adore Bipasha Basu.

Just wanted to share a few pics of hers that I had on my computer and thought she was absolutely radiant and stunning.

Wait, not done. Loooove the John-Bipasha jodi. Look at both of their dimples...how cute!!!

Since it's going to rain allllll day today (yes, it's still early 3 am EST), my plans to go hiking with the family has been canceled.

Honestly, I forgot about Aa Dekhen Zara releasing. A friend was e-mailing me asking if I was going to watch it. Shoot, now I am! Probably drag my daughter to watch it with me and take her out to eat Indian food. :)

Oh yeah, lastly, my friend also sent me the video of Bips performing at the Screen Awards on January 2009. I haven't been keeping up with award shows anymore cause I find most of them crappy. For some reason, I did not know about Bips performing.

I must say....WOW!!! The girl can't dance but she sure makes dancing fun. So sexy and hot! Bips looks like she can be in MTV music videos rocking the modern look. Check out John's facial expressions....and Akki's! They seem to be enjoying it. Not sure about Priyanka though, lol.

Here's Neil and Bips at Filmfare 2009, promoting their film Aa Dekhen Zara. :)

No worries. I am there later to support! I've read bad reviews but it's okay. Still will watch ANYTHING with Bips in it!

Ruslaan Mumtaaz - where art thou?

Dear Ruslaan,

Where are thou?

It took me two years to find out who you were. In 2005, when I first saw you in the music video of the remix "Aap Jaisa Koi," I asked everyone who you were. No one knew.

Then your debut film, Mere Pehla Pehla Pyar came along, I saw pictures of you. I knew that was the same guy I was searching for all these years!

I finally found you! So extremely happy to see Mere Pehla Pehla Pyar because it was a cute, teenage love story. Something I don't see much in Bollywood.

But that was almost two years ago, it's now 2009.

Eagerly waiting for your next two films, which is scheduled to release this year in 2009 (I still hope!)

Tere Sang - I can not find much information, except that you were injured while shooting the film.

Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai! - glad to see an IMDB page since Tere Sang didn't have one. I hope you have a huge role in the film. Ritiesh Deshmukh is credited first. And Ayesha as an alien in the film too! Please no supporting roles! I want you in a lead role!

Shocking news to me when I found out that you were denied the role of in Slumdog Millionaire because of your good looks. It's okay. Don't worry, you are definitely too fine and much hotter than Dev Patel.

Hope that was not the reason why I haven't seen much of you lately. I still have faith in you. Come back soon! I miss you!

Waiting patiently,

Nicki

All I can do now is stare at your pics until I see you again....

Until then, enjoy the hawt photoshoot of Ruslaan!

PS - for those who didn't know, he is the son of veteran actress, Anjana Mumtaz.

Anand - Best Telugu film ever!

Yes, another Southie film for me to watch. I was asked when I am going back to watching Hindi aka Bollywood films. Well, there's still a handful of Southie films I want to watch before heading back.

So far, on my Southie filmfest, I have not been disappointed with any Tamil or Telugu films I've watched. Love how much stronger the South Indian women are portrayed in the films.

Now, this time it's the Telugu film, Anand. Not to be confused with the Hindi version. BTW, is the Hindi film any good? I have never seen it and it stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna.

Gosh, I started watching Anand last week but never got to finish it! Not being able to find the time to watch it because when I first started watching, my daughter got sick. It's ashamed because it's a wonderful love story! The best Telugu film yet for me. Maybe the best romantic film yet in India - again, doesn't matter if it's Telugu, Tamil, or Telugu.

Loved. Loved. Loved this film!

Why I love it?

It's a simple love story. With no love-at-first sight. Instead the love develops slowly.

Strong female role. Again, South Indian films give more depth to the heroines than in Bollywood. No difference in Anand.

Even a good female friendship bond. It died down a bit towards the middle to the end but worth mentioning.

Beautiful, girl-next-door Kamalinee.

Drool-worthy Raja.

Great music.

No stupid comedy.

No annoying kids.

No villians to run away from.

Happy Ending.

Realistic - no outrageous fight scenes or over-the-top melodrama.

That's all you need to know.

The *ONLY* complaint I would have is that the dvd quality I had was not very good so I couldn't make good screen caps.

Wait another one - the subs are not that great...but nothing to do with the actual movie.

Orphan at a young age, Rupa's (Kamalinee Mukherjee) parents and brother died in a car accident due to a drunk driver. Since then she grew up in an orphange home. Even though she doesn't have a lot of money for her marriage, she works for an advertising agency. She dismisses her marriage to Rahul (Anuj Gurwara) learning that she can not marry into a family where she can not be herself. Anand (Raja) just came back from the USA and is pressured to get married. After meeting a match, he decides he can not do so. Instead he is intruged by Rupa when he witness Rupa's brave words against her future mother-in-law. He was always curious about Rupa because it was because of his father that she is now an orphan. Therefore, he stays at the orphanage in an extra room to get to know Rupa better. Even though he has befriend everyone and they all love him except for Rupa. Anand starts to fall in love with Rupa. Will Rupa ever open her heart again after the awful incident of the marriage-that-never-happened? Will Rahul get tired of Rupa and move on?

Anand - sweet guy who wants to get to know Rupa better. He feels bad that his drunk father caused Rupa to be an orphan. Love Anand because he's so caring and considerate. When he was set up to meet a potential future wife, he dismissed the girl because she looked down on his driver's son. Once he started to become interested in Rupa because of her personality, that's what made me love him more. He didn't come out to her and say "I Love You" either because it wasn't love-at-first sight.

OMG - Raja, you are so adorable! Not only are you cute, I'm in love with the character Anand. When I first saw him, I wasn't impress too much. But that's because maybe I was looking for some hot abs, hahaha. Because the film started with Rupa first, I wasn't able to see enough of Raja. However, once I saw more of Raja in the film, I saw how cute and entertaining he is!

Rupa is so real. You can relate to her. Although she is an orphan, she never wanted help from any family members and want them to pity her. Everything she accomplished, she did it herself. Her heart is broken by the man who was suppose to be her future husband. The way she reacted with her future mother-in-law needs to be applauded. Never did Rupa try to disrespect her but make a point across.

Kamalinee is definitely my favorite Telugu actress right now. Second favorite South Indian actress, a notch below Sneha. The surname Mukherjee is definitely Bengali. Therefore, Telugu is not her native tongue and was dubbed. Interesting, she debuted in Bollywood with Phir Milenge. I have to pull my dvd out cause I don't remember her in the film. Obviously, the film was focused on Shilpa Shetty because that's Shilpa's biggest acting acclaim. Since then, Kamalinee has acted in mostly Telugu films, such as Godavari, but Anand is her debut Southie film.

Another reason why I love her is she portrays the girl-next-door with a personality! As much as I love fit women like Bipasha, Kamalinee is healthy-looking with curves and looks extra sexy when she wears sarees.

Anita (Satya Krisnan) is Rupa's friend who Rupa confides in. She also is a good friend to Anand once she gets to know him.

Rahul (Anuj Gurwara) is/was Rupa's fiance. He is a coward and doesn't stand up to his demanding mother.

Song #1 - "Yedalo Ganam"
Background score of Rupa & Anand's lives

Song #2 - "Vachhe Vachhe"
Rain song. Everyone has fun.

Song #3 - "Charumathi I Love U"
Anand falls for Rupa

Watch Below

Song #4 - "Nuvvena Na Nuvvena"
Anand distance himself from Rupa to see if he really does love her and vice versa

Watch Below

Song #5 - "Yamuna Theeram"
Anand & Rupa in love
My fave song!

Watch Below

Simply love the female bond.

What I also love about the film is it touched in several issues but was not preachy about it -- drunk driving, caste difference, poor/rich, South/Nouth Indian prejudice, dowry, guy who choose his mother over his future wife, controlling mother-in-law

Made screen caps of the South/North Indian prejudice. Future mother-in-law demands that Rupa change from her South Indian sari to a North Indian sari.

Rupa wants to wear South Indian sari

Rupa changing to North Indian sari to please future mother-in-law

Funny poster on Rupa's bathroom door

Anand isn't the first Southie film I've seen with the beautiful colors on the cement. I don't know the name of the event and the reasons behind it. Anyone help me out? - Updated -- Thanks Shweta for telling me that it's rangoli! So beautiful. My daughter loves art and would love this!

Have I not talked about this film enough for you to watch?

If not, let me convince you. Anand is a low-budget film that took these awards.

Santosham Film Awards 2005 - August 2, 2005.

Best Film
Best Experimental Film
Best Director - Sekhar Kammula
Best Producer - Sekhar Kammula

Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Satya Krishnan
Best Child Artiste - Bakhita
Best Female Dubbing Artist - Sunitha
