Dang, I should've just stuck with the old version of Gumnaam, which I heard great things about and haven't seen yet either. The Dino-Mahima version has been in the making for so long. Since I like them, I have always wanted to watch it to support the both of them. Plus, today is Friday the 13th, suppose to be a "scary" day because of the Jason slasher films. Not sure if anyone outside the USA knows about him. So I was inspired to watch a thriller/horror film. I know, right before the romantic holiday, Valentine's Day.
If you continue to play in dumb movies like Gumnaam, how will the critics take you seriously? Since Raaz, I've loved you and wanted to see more of you. I even supported you in films that you were cute in but were overshadowed by others - Rakht, Plan, The Fight Club. Now, Gumnaam is just plain bad. Although I enjoyed looking at your hot, 6-pack abs and gorgeous dimples, I can no longer just tell some people that you are an underrated actor who just haven't gotten the right script. I still want to say that I believe in you. Please, no more nonsense films like this because I hate it when people call you a non-actor.
PS - you're still smoking hot and I still love you!!
You were one of my favorite actresses when you debuted in Pardes. For some reason, you went the Manisha path, starting off strong in films then later, don't know what happened. Please pick better films. I still have faith in you.
A fan who still have high hopes for you,
Gumnaam is suppose to be this thriller movie. From the beginning you see this lady (Mahima Chaudhary) scared of something. It's raining, cold and suddenly she gets murdered. But right after that interesting bit, the rest of the first half spent most of its time developing this awkward love story between a hot stunt man, Dev (Dino Morea) and a struggling actress, Riya (Mahima Chaudhary).
Interestingly, I found it really ironic that Dino's character Dev is a stunt man aka not the main hero. Just like in most of his other movies, he plays the secondary character.
Same goes for Mahima's character Riya, a struggling actress who is tired of being in music videos and wants to play the lead role in a film. Again, she started off strong in her career but just didn't follow through.
Once Riya finally got her break in a leading role, she jumps at the chance. Only to put herself in danger. Do you really want to know the mystery? I almost wanted to spoil the movie since it's that bad but I'll leave it at that.
There's the mysterious Remon (Suman Ranganath) who saves Dev when got into an accident. Why is she concern with Dev's girllfriend?
Song #1 - "Aankhon Ko Char"
Music video of Riya but stunt man Dev is in love with her and imagines himself with her.
Song #2 - "Mohabbat Se Zyada"
Dev and Riya in love
Song #3 - "Ishq Ne Itna"
Dev misses Riya and imagines beign with her.
Song #4 - "Yeh Ishq Ishq"
Dev, Riya, and Remon in the club
Just wanted to show some WTF moments for me. Remon coming out of the shower in her robe with fully covered makeup.
Dev is a stunt man but.....too many matrix style moves
Oh look...Dino loves himself.
Putting myself through the torture of this boring movie, I waited and waited to see some more "thrilling" moments. When it finally happened, I was already bored out of my mind that I wasn't even "scared." Let me tell you, the one interesting line that Dev aka Dino Morea said in the film is "no, no Bipasha Basu has done this." Her name was mentioned twice in the film. The first time when Riya aka Mahima wanted to be a lead heroine instead of being in music videos, well-known actresses named were being called - Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Nargis, Nuthan, Hema Malini, SriDevi, Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matonkar, and finally Bipasha Basu. For those who didn't know, Dino and Bips dated for a long time before she dated John Abraham. Dino was Bips' first boyfriend. So what do you think? Did I like the movie? LOL
