Nicki's wish - another one of my remake idea with BunnyCherry

My last blog post was my remake wish Bunny-Cherry. Since I had another one in mind, I thought I would share another one of my remake wish ideas again.

Just like my last remake wish, I am going to use a Korean drama. This time, it is my all-time favorite Korean drama, Iris.



General synopsis for Iris on Amazon

Two elite National Security System (NSS) agents, Hyeong-Jun (Lee Byung-Hun) and Sa-Woo (Jeong Jun-Ho), who were sworn blood brothers, both fall for fellow agent Seung-Hee (Kim Tae-Hee). Sa-Woo attempts to suppress his feelings for Seung-Hee and wishes the couple the best.

Hyeon-Jun is then sent off on a solo mission to Hungary. In Hungary, Hyeon-jun accomplishes his mission and while in escape mode becomes wounded. Shortly later, Hyeon-jun finds out that he was betrayed by fellow agent Sa-woo. Seung-Hee attempts to help Hyeon-Jun escape, but a car explosion separates the two and both are misled to believe that the other person are dead. Hyeon-Jun is then saved by an unknown voice and learns of the secret society "IRIS".

One year later, Hyeon-Jun returns to Korea to seek revenge. During this time, the two Koreas are set to reunify, while the group "IRIS" are intent on stopping the reunification.



Iris consists of 20 episodes.

For me, I would focus more on the middle towards the end of the drama (around episodes 8 - 14) and change it up a bit for to satisfy the South Indian audience. For example, the first few episodes of Iris is about a friendship bond with Hyun Jun and Sa Woo. And about the both of them falling in love with the same girl and end up working for the NSS.

It's no secret that I adore Bunny. He will be the man, with negative shades. Turning to the "dark" side only to prove his innocence and survival. A guy who doesn't remember much of his past, holds to key to solve the puzzle, and two girls falling for him!

PS- if you're wondering where you've seen Korean hottie, Lee Byung Bun before, he's in the Hollywood big budget movie, GI Joe.

Sada as Choi Seung Hee (Kim Tae Hee)



Two guys will fall for her but she will have her heart for one only. Her heart for him is true because she is set to believe that her lover is dead. I adore Sada and want to watch more of her films. She is cute, can act, and has that confident screen presence. Besides, I would love to see her opposite Bunny.

Rana Daggubati as Jin Sa Woo (Jung Joo Hoo)



He is the guy who was always second best to Bunny. He will have to betray Bunny, love the same girl as Bunny, and never quite as good as Bunny. With his good looks and acting after Leader, I would like to see Rana in the same film with Bunny-Cherry. Yes!

Why not cast Cherry as Sa Woo? This is why....

Fast forward towards the middle episodes of Iris, focus on Sa Woo betraying Hyun Jun. Because everyone thinks Hyun Jun is dead, even his beau, Seung Hee. Cheol Young has been chasing Hyun Jun. In order to gain Cheol Young's trust, Hyun Jun puts his life in danger to prove to everyone that he has been blackmailed and teams up to help Cheol Young and opens his eyes to let him realize who the real enemy is. So in other words, Bunny teaming up with Cherry.

When I first thought about Iris, I did think cast Cherry as Sa Woo. After much consideration, this is how I would change it up a bit. I want Cherry to be the agent cop who chases Bunny. Not the disloyal brother/friend.

Priyamani as Kim So Yeon (Kim Sun Hwa)



Cherry and Priyamani are partners in crime. One of her jobs is to capture Bunny and eventually falls for him. Once she captures him, she learns about him and learns that both come from broken homes and have no one to turn to.

Daniel Balaji as Vick (T.O.P.)



I watched Iris mainly for T.O.P. because he's from the Korean boy band, Big Bang, which was his acting debut. Vick is a silent, ruthless villian who is paid to kill. So because of this trait, who else to do this role? I absolutely looove Daniel from Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu because he was scared me to death. He would be perfect to play a cold-blooded killer.

Why not Prakash Raj? That man could play any role cause he is that good. He will be the man in charge of the NSS, the Deputy Director.

I freaking love Sophie, I really do. Love her voice and she's beautiful.

I know she's not responsible for what goes on with the video but she is aware that her video is inspired by a very famous Korean video.

I remember when I first discovered the video back in 2004, it was sooo popular that it has been sang in so many different languages -- Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish Tagalog, Turkish, Vietnamese. In addition, so many people loved the video so much that they wanted it to be a movie!

None of the girls are in the video. Instead the video features Miss Korea 2000, Goo Hye Jin, and the actor, Shin Hyun Joon.

Ugly Aur Pagli - Bollywood's take on one of Korea's most popular movies, My Sassy Girl

Main reason for me to watch Ugly Aur Pagli - see how Bollywood takes on the famous Korean romantic comedy, My Sassy Girl. If Hollywood remakes it too (with the same title) and Bollywood also wants to take the script and turn it Bollywood-style, My Sassy Girl is that popular, right? Damn right, it is.

I'm not a huge My Sassy Girl to begin with anyways. However, this film is on most people's top ten list of favorite Korean films of all-times. After several viewings and learning this information:

Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely. It describes the meeting of Kyun-woo (Cha) and an unnamed girl. Kyun-woo is shamed into assisting the girl because the other passengers mistakenly think she is his girlfriend. Once he helps her, Kyun-woo develops a deep sense of responsibility for her which enables him to tolerate (somehow) the girls abuses.

I started to I understood why people loved it and the emotional scenes. So how does Bollywood handle it?

Ranvir, Ranvir, how can you say Ugly Aur Pagli is not similiar to My Sassy Girl? Have you seen the original? Read what he says here.



Very debatable about how I was going to write this review. Did I really want to compare the two movies? Or do my regular review? So I finally decided just to talk about the similarities.



First of all, I adore Ranvir Shorey. I think he's a very underrated actor. He was the perfect choice for the hero. What other guy can put up with that many slaps in one film and still be so adorable!!



Finally Ranvir gets the girl?? And the movie not ending up as a tragedy? If you have seen My Sassy Girl, you know exactly how the movie ends and Ranvir's role.



Many people are probably not fans of Mallika Sherawat but I like her! Even though many see her as a sexy showoff, they are right. I think she's underrated in the acting department as well. Ever since I saw her in Khwahish, I was impress with her. From Murder to Pyaar Ke Side Effects, I think she's best in romantic comedies. She even bagged a role with the famous Jackie Chan in The Myth in which she shows off some mini martial arts skills. Way to Go!



When I found out that Mallia was in Ugly Aur Pagli, I was so excited! I loved her in Pyaar Ke Side Effects and thought she would be able to pull the role really well! It's not her acting that made not enjoy Ugly Aur Pagli. The weak script failed the movie! Sure, it takes on the famous My Sassy Girl.



By now, everyone knows that the famous beauty queen Zeenat Aman is in this movie. That's all I'm saying because I won't give out any spoilers!



But the movie focused too much adding a lot of unnecessary songs to the more emotional aspects of My Sassy Girl. What's funny is there's a scene from My Sassy Girl that the Bollywood film Neil N Nikki lifts from. Even with the drunk girl being carried on the back is from My Sassy Girl and Neil N Nikki and Ugly Aur Pagli take on that scene and the guy carries her on his back going to hotel to hotel. However, Neil N Nikki lifts the scene exactly from the original while Ugly Aur Pagli doesn't use it at all, but takes on the rest of the movie plot. All three films are definitely about the heroines trying to move on with their lives after being heart-broken from an ex-boyfriend.

One line that is used from the original is the use of the line from the heroine, "You want to die?"

Many of the songs definitely could have been deleted. Bollywood has been able to pull off entertaining movies without so many songs. With all the songs in the movie, the genre of it just takes you from emotional to comedic. Although he following songs could have been deleted, they were fun to watch. I think Bollywood should have focused on Kuhu's past more than worried about all the songs.

I believe Bollywood portrays Kuhu as a different type of girl than Korea's "The Girl." If you haven't seen the original, how do you rate Ugly Aur Pagli? Even though I have complained about the lack of originality and unnecessary songs. Ranvir and Mallika definitely were a joy to watch and had chemistry!

Bommarillu - Siddharth + Genelia = great movie

Siddhu (Siddharth) has a great life! He lives in a household full of people always catering to him. His father (Prakash Raj) gives him anything he wants. The family is very well off. What can he ask for, right? Wrong! Regardless of how perfect Siddhu's life is, he wants to make his own decisions. He wants to fall in love and want to be with the girl who makes him feel carefree - Hasini (Genlia D'Souza). With all the love a father can give his son, will he ever let his son walk his own path?



Since I have Siddharth fever cause I obviously love this guy! I had to watch Bommarillu. Ever since I saw Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, I just had to watch Sid's Telugu and Tamil films!



Siddhu - the guy who has a double life. No one at home knows his anger and frustrations of pleasing his father. He wants to be his own person but is trapped between being a loyal son. Until he meets Hasini, never did he realize how uptight he was. He needed to be carefree, independent, and liveliness!



As I mentioned in the Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana review, I adored Sid since Rang De Basanti. Just couldn't get enough of the cutie pie.



If you like Kareena in Jab We Met, you'll fall in love with Genelia in Bommarillu. Hasini lives life to the fullest. Bubbly, beautiful, carefree - that's Hasini. She opens Siddhu's eyes and he is able to view life though her eyes.



Genelia is so freaking adorable. I wish her Bollywood films would portray her cuteness like her Tollywood films (still stuck between this film and Happy - which film I like her more in). Her voice is kiddish and cute but in Bommarillu, it seems sounds so childish. Regardless, she's great.



Aravind (Prakash Raj), Siddhu's father. He always looks out what is best for his family. Never had he thought about him controlling their lives. He always give, give, give. Prakash Raj has been in a lot of Tollywood films I've seen. Such an awesome actor.



Lakshmi - Siddhu's loving mother. She learns about Siddhu's yearn to be independent. Jayasudha plays the typical wife/mother. Stuck between being loyal to her husband or realizing her son needs to be free.



Kanaka (Kota Rao) - Hasina's loving father.



Music is great. I'm so addicted to Tollywood music - I must watch more! Telugu language is so beautiful. Found most of the songs on YouTube with English subs.

Although I love Allu Arjun to death and wanna have his babies, I do prefer Siddharth's movies over Arjun's. The type of movies Siddharth has been in, I enjoy more. The excution of the film is portrayed very well. I love my action-hero Arjun but do love the cute-lovey-dovey-love-struck Siddharth too.



I'm so torn that Bollywood plans to remake this wonderful Tollywood film. Why? Oh why? Keeping Genelia but replacing Siddharth with Harman? Are you kidding me???? The Bollywood version is titled It's My Life. If you've never seen any Telugu films before, Bommarillu is a good film to start off with. Either that or Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, both Siddharth starrers. Doesn't matter if you're not a fan of Siddharth, you'll fall in love with him in either films.
