21. A difficult song that you wish you could sing
All songs would be difficult for me since Hindi isn't my first language. I just love Indian cinema. I'm just picking "Kun Faaya Kun" - Rockstar because it's the latest song I'm obsess with :)

22. A song that you know you the whole routine and choreography to 
"Ek Pal Ka Jeena" - Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, lmao, no kidding! I remember showing my cousins the moves. It's just soooo hilarious thinking about it now. They called one of the moves, "the cool butterfly" - I'll let you figure out which part that is :D

23. A song that you dedicate to your friends
First song that comes to mind is the title song "Dil Chahta Hai" - Dil Chahta Hai. I looove the movie. Too bad there is no girl bonding songs in Bollywood films, if so...anyone tell me, please!

24. A song that no one would expect you to love
Haha, that would be "Socha Hai" - Rock On because I always stated how much I love R&B and Hip Hop...and the Bhatt's music :D

25. A song that reminds you of your childhood
"Boom Boom" - Star. I loooove Nazir Hassan. RIP. I grew up watching Bollywood movies but it wasn't until I visited my cousins in Minnesota that made my love come back (now, I'm just more obsess). Star made me a Kumar Gaurav and Rati Agnihotri fan. I remember imitating the lame dancing in the video, lmao. Heck, I was like eight at the time, hahaha. I also remember going to the Hmong store to rent some Bollywood movies and I desperately wanted to watch their other film together, All Rounder, lmao.

26. A song you play when your happy
I'm not sure about when I'm happy but the last upbeat song that I really liked was "I Hate Luv Storys" - I Hate Luv Storys, lmao. Love the beat and stuff....have played it nonstop for a while.

27. A song you play when you're sad
The lyrics are just sad but very poetic - "Woh Lamhe" - Zeher - and sung so beautifully by Atif Aslam, who I love and adore. I'm telling you, the Bhatt music are magical. English translation/lyrics on Bollywhat.

28. A song that makes you laugh
"East Aur West India is the Best" - Judwaa, quick funny story, hubby would say, "East OR West, Daddy is the Best." It's his standard song in the house for the kids :D

29. A song that you can relate to
 Okay, it's "Jadu Hai Nasha" - Jism, don't focus on the hotness of John-Bips (I know, hush! I still love both) besides the song being awesome, the lyrics are true to me. I was intoxicated with my hubby's love. Okay, when I was in high school, I was so in love with him, it was like magic, some people thought I was too crazy for him, that it looked almost stalkerish. Well, after 2 years, we finally got together, married, kids, the rest is history. Been together for 17+ years :)

30. A favorite song that is picturized on the legend that is Amitabh Bachchan
One of my fave movies of AB is Sharaabi with the lovely, underrated Jaya Pradha, "Log Kehte Hai Main Sharaabi" - the vocals to Kishore Kumar is used and you can see the beautiful Jaya Pradha dancing

11.  A song that can be potentially used as a chat up line
I honestly don't know but I always thought "What Is Mobile Number" - Haseena Maan Jayegi was really cute. Come on! It could be done, right? :D

12. A song to express matters from the heart
The lyrics to "Aur Intezaar Ab Mushkil Hai" - Romance are really nice. To me, it's such a romantic and sensual song.

"O Mere Sajan" - Painter Babu is a sad song to begin with but the lyrics does express a broken heart. I love this film so much!

Dang, I already put my all time favorite Bollywood album, Aashiqui on #6 for A song that you can chill to. But since I already used that song, I will go with my second favorite song/OST, also by the Bhatt's.

15. An English song that has been covered by Bollywood
When I first heard "Neend Churayee Meri" - Ishq I knew immediately that it was a copy of "Sending All My Love" - Linear. I was such a diehard fan of theirs back then and even went to their concert, lmao. I have pics :D

16. A song that you would potentially have at your wedding as a first dance. Or have had as your first dance
I'm married. Not Desi style, unfortunately.....but if I was to have a gorgeous Desi style wedding, I would want "Woh Pehli Baar" - Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi to be the first song for my wedding :D I loooove Shaan's voice. It's a cute college first love type of movie :D

17. A song that you know all the words to
"O O Jaane Jana" - Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. No kidding, hahaha. This is my all time fave Sallu song! I was so excited when Sallu performed it at the 2006 Rockstars concert :D The film will always hold a special part in my heart cause it was the first Bollywood movie I ever saw in the theater :D

18. A favourite patriotic song
I thought Zameen was an underrated film and remembered "Hai Ishq Ha" sung by Shaan, who I adore. Film stars Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu

19. A song that you love but be embarass to admitting it
"Tu Mera Superman" - Dariya Dil - haha, not really embarass now but I do cringe when I see it every now and then but it's so cute and funny at times. I know others say, I know you like Govinda but come on!

20. A song picturised on your favorite Bollywood star yester years/current or male/female
How about the movie that peaked my interest in Bollywood and starred two of my faves back then? The wonderful, Dharmendra & Hema Malini

30 Day Bollywood Soundtrack Challenge: listing 1 - 10, Part 1

I am blogging again, hahaha! It's been forever. I am on Twitter more just with random thoughts, bitchiness, rants, anything. I tweet a lot about the movies I watch...anything from Hollywood to Bollywood to Telugu to Korean to Hong Kong to Thai to Filipino.

I learn about this challenge on Twitter and I copied this entirely from Beth Loves Bollywood because I liked her format a lot.

But this part are my choices :D

1. A song that makes you happy
The Govinda-Neelam jodi is my fave jodi of all times. I absolutely looooove them. I always get upset when people bash Govinda. He was the dancing king back in the days. No other jodi danced their hearts off like Govinda-Neelam and had chemistry. I love them. I miss them soooo much!

2. A song that makes you sad
Every time I hear this song, my heart sinks. The clip that is right before the song is soooo heartbreaking, Kunal accusing Chandra of being with another man, insulting her calling her a hoochie like her mama, what he doesn't know is that she cannot reveal the truth who that man is.
"Mana Teri Nazar Mein" - Ahista Ahista

3. A song that you like driving to
I loooooooove this song and used to play it nonstop in the car back then. Oh, how I miss Preity and Rani!!
"Piya Piya O Piya" - Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega is so upbeat and lifting to me.

4. A song that you like walking to
Yes, I know that "Yeh Ishq Haaye" - Jab We Met is a remake of the Indonesian-French singer, Anggun, ‘Être Une Femme’but I still love it. I actually like the Hindi version better. Plus the gorgeous cinematography of Manala is an icing on the cake, to top it off with cherries with having tribal people in the background wearing outfits similiar to Hmong people :)

5. A song that reminds you of someone
My daughter used to watch and listen to Bollywood music with me when she was younger. Now, she doesn't :( since she is into animes and prefers Japanese music. So every time I hear, "Kahin Se Aai Rani Kahin Se Aaya Raja" - Raju Chacha, it reminds me of the little girl who used to want to watch this movie. She used to watch it all day long and imitate the dances. She used to call Ajay Devgan, Raju Chacha a lot and thought that was his name. Ooooh, memories.

6. A song that you can chill to
Aashiqui is actually my favorite Bollywood soundtrack *ever*! I fell in love with the Bhatt's music since then.
"Dheere Dheere" is just chilled and laid back. I love it. I feel serenity when I listen to it.

7. A song that you like dancing to
I swear, every time I hear "No.1 Punjabi" - Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, I just wanna dance. I am humming the lyrics right now, ready to get up!

8. A favorite item number song
Can I do my fave item girl??? Malaika Arora-Khan??? I loooove her! MILF! To me, "Chaiya Chaiya" - Dil Se is the best item numbers hands down but Malaika has had other wonderful item numbers too like "Maahi Ve" - Kaante, & "Munni Badnaam Hui" - Dabangg. She even had a Telugu item number in Athadu, okay, I'll save that for my Tollywood Soundtrack Challenge :D

9. A favourite song from a Yash Raj movie
Since I was just thinking about item numbers, I might as well, kill two birds with one stone and say "Sharara" - Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. Shamita is the younger, underused sister of Shilpa Shetty. I like this song a lot and used to play it a lot back then. The movie wasn't as bad as everyone said it'll be either.

10. A favourite song often that is played at Indian weddings
I'm not Desi. I'm a Hmong Chick who Loves Indian Cinema. As much as I love Indian Cinema, I have N-E-V-E-R gone to a Desi wedding. No kidding! I live in Atlanta where a lot of Desi people live! Anyways, whenever I hear a Desi wedding, I think of "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya-Koi Jaane Koi Na" - Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. I looooove Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. RIP.

My top 5 Bollywood films of 2010

I know I'm late to join in the bandwagon but I haven't watched many Hindi films lately. Blame Telugu cinema for that :D I've been on a writer's block for several months and haven't written a full review with lots of caps. Instead I've been writing a bunch of mini-reviews.

Since I haven't blogged about a Hindi film in a while, I thought I should list my top 5 Bollywood film of 2010 that I've seen so far.

Udaan



After being expelled from school, Rohan (Rajat Barmecha) returns home after being gone to boarding school for 8 years to learn he had a 6-years-old half-brother, Arjun, who he never knew about. Rohan's father re-married, had Arjun, and divorced. Rohan's mother passed away when he was really young. He wants to be a writer but his father rejects the idea. Instead, his father wants him to work in his factory and go to school to become an engineer.



Film opens with four friends mischievously skipping school only to find themselves expelled. Honestly, I thought the film would show the lives of four of the friends but I was totally wrong. The film focused on only one of the guys, Rohan. His relationship with his father.

The actor who plays Rohan, Rajat Barmecha, reminds me of a young Imraan Khan. He has a sweet, innocent look. He is definitely a fresh of breath air. I look forward to seeing him more in the future.

The person who stole my heart was the little boy who played Arjun who was just too cute. I just wanted to go and hug him. He had me in tears many times. I could feel his pain when he was trying to be the obedient son.

Even though Rohan and Arjun had a heartless father who only cares for himself, I am glad there was a supportive relative, their uncle, Jimmy, who tried to be an emotional helping hand when needed.

I wonder how the storyline would be if the father had one daughter instead of two sons? Just a thought.

Udaan is a very good film but it starts off slow. It's not the type of film I could watch over and over. Therefore, it ranks #5 on my list. However, I do like it for the storyline, acting, and brilliant direction. To me, it's definitely Oscar-worthy.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai



Once Upon a Time in Mumbai...
Sultan Mirza - the man Mumbai once feared....
Shoaib Khan - the man Mumbai now fears....

Sultan (Ajay Devgan) grew up as an orphan and worked hard for everything. As an adult, he becomes a don in Mumbai. He is feared by everyone. However, he has a soft spot for those who are cheated by the government. He loves the famous actress, Rehana (Kangna Ranaut).

Since childhood, Shoaib is a petty thief and a nobody. Ironically, his father is a police officer who cannot control his only son. Even his beloved, naive girlfriend, Mumtaz (Prachi Desai) cannot help him either. Thinking that he could scare his son, he seeks Sultan's help to help "set his son straight."

Because of Sultan's respected status, Shoaib wants to be just like Sultan and joins his gang. So he starts imitating Sultan, the way he smokes, dresses, to wanting to have an actress girlfriend.

When Sultan left Mumbai, he let Shoaib in charge. Mumbai starts to deteriorate, which cause a rift between the two guys.



Film starts off with DCP Agnel Wilson (Randeep Hooda) trying to commit suicide. However, he was saved and explains why he tried to do so. He narrates the stories of Sultan Mira and Shoaib Khan. I enjoyed the narration. Hello Randeep Hooda! I never noticed him before until now. He has that suave look and sexy voice, which reminds me of Arjun Rampal. He was the cool cop who wanted to bring down the two most feared guys in Mumbai but was unsuccessful.

"The film covers the growth of the Mumbai underworld, from crime and smuggling in its early stages through its connection with international terrorism in recent times. It is based on actual events. It is believed to be loosely based on the lives of Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim, as the characters Sultan and Shoaib respectively."

With a moustache, Ajay looks even better. He is a handsome man who doesn't get that much credit in the film industry. He was the perfect choice for playing Sultan. Even though Sultan is known as a don, I think he is more like Robin Hood. He tries to help the people in need who has been victimized by the government.

This is Emraan Hashmi's film all the way!! He is definitely the most underrated actors...EVER! I've been a fan of his since his debut film, Footpath. I cannot stress how much I adore him. He is known as the seriel kisser but I don't care. He is damn good at acting too.

The film started off with Sultan and how he got to where he was.  However, you see the changes and growth of Shoaib who was more of a shady character who didn't give a damn and selfishly thought about himself. He didn't care about what his father or girlfriend thought.

I love the retro look and feel. The hairstyles from the ladies were on point and made me think of the Bollywood Disco movies!

The ladies didn't have that much screentime as the guys but did well in their parts. I like Kangana a lot. She doesn't play the typical girl-next-door roles. She looks even more gorgeous in the film. I never noticed Prachi before until now. She played her part very well.

Well worth a watch!

Tere Bin Laden



Because of the 9/11 tragedy in America, Ali Hassan (Ali Zafar) is unable to fulfill his dreams of a better life in the USA. Immediately, he gets deported right back from America to Pakistan. On top of that, his visa application has been rejected numorous occassions in a short amount of time. In order to make his dreams come true, he has to have enough money to get a new visa. After seeing an Osama Bin Laden look-alike, Noor, who owns a chicken farm, Ali comes up with an idea to make a false video tape by tricking Noor to be in it acting as Osama Bin Laden. However, the USA gets seriously involve when they see the tape and want to capture Osama Bin Laden.



Full of laughters! I haven't LMAO this much in a long time! I looooooove it! From beginning to end, everything about it was hilarious.

Ali Zafar. Ali Zafar. Ali Zafar.
What a debut film! He was so natural. I was already in love with his music and him (see him on my list of drool-worthy guys I wrote in 2008) and now love him even more after this film. I hope he makes it big as an actor.

As an American by nationality (Hmong by ethnicity), any topic with Osama Bin Laden is really touchy. A lot of Americans still grief at even the thought of the 9/11 incident.
But not with Tere Bin Laden! It was a great tongue-in-cheek film.

The satire take of this tragic incident in Tere Bin Laden was done so brilliantly and cleverly!! Hubby and daughter have watched it with me and laughed so much. I am getting my American friends to watch the film and laugh along with me.

Dabangg



Dabangg means fearless and is about the fearless corrupted cop, Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), who nicknames himself, "Robin Hood Pandy." Even with working with the flaws and corruption of the police system, Chulbul still has a soft side -- his love for his widowed mother, Naina (Dimple Kapadia).

He has a love-hate relationship with his stepfather, Prajapati (Vinod Khanna), and stepbrother, Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan). But he has to try to make peace in the household per his mother.

Behind this stubborn, badass cop, he falls in love with the potter village girl, Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha). With juggling with his job, home, and now love, he is challenged by Chhedi Singh (Sonu Sood). How will he overcome it?



I loved Dabangg!!!
I caught it in the theater when it released.

Band Bajaa Baaraat



Bittoo Sharma (Ranveer Singh) and his friends are college students and wedding crashers. He bumps into Shruti Kakkar (Anushka Sharma) who she calls him out for being a wedding crasher where she helped organized. Instantly, Bittoo becamse intrigued with Shruti for her sassy attitude.

They later become friends and get to know each other. She tells him her dream of becoming the best wedding planner in India with her future company, Shaadi Mubarak.

Because Bittoo is un-ambitious and doesn't think much about his future, his father wants him to be run the family business at the village. With a quick reply, he lies to his father he is going to be a wedding planner and partners with Shruti.

At first Shruti refuses. But when she finally gives him to letting Bittoo be her partner, they start off with small budget weddings and became an instant hit! They slowly merged to bigger weddings and became successful at that too.

When they mix business with pleasure, the business starts to go downwards. Shruti starts to fall in love with  Bittoo, but he didn't want to hurt Shruti's feelings. Both decide to go their separate ways, even with separate businesses. Shruti running Shaadi Mubarak solo. Bittoo starting Happy Wedding.

Both businesses did not do well separately. A wealthy millionaire's daughter wanted only the "original" Shaadi Mubarak to host their wedding. They must come together and work as a team again. But will their pride get in the way and ruin the wedding? Will they ever talk about their feelings for each other?



OMG, I love love love Band Baaja Baaraat!

I know my taste in films are totally different from some others.
If you like a romantic comedies and tired of seeing the same faces, this is for you.

What I like most about it is relationships between the two leads. There isn't a problem with parents or elders disapproving their love. It was because of both of their ego's.

Shruti is smart, independent, strong, and beautiful. She knows what she wants and aims to get there. Even though Bittoo piggybacks on Shruti's ideas, he is there for her to help her business get started. He is a true friend.

Some people may not like Shruti's unnecessary rude attitude towards Bittoo. But what people failed to realize is that Shruti didn't want to go back on what she said about relationships and businesses. There are many times when my pride overtakes what I should be doing. I'm like Shruti in wanting to be the best I can be and no room for errors. Plus Shruti's take on love.  She thought Bittoo would have the same feelings as her. Of course, I would feel devastated too! So excuse me, if I act like a biatch!

I do adore Bittoo. Overall, I don't think he's a jerk. He also had a huge ego like Shruti. Both were just too stubborn to talk about their feelings towards each other.

Besides the relationship, I enjoyed seeing the beautiful, colorful outfits and the "making" of the wedding. Along with friends helping out the small business turn successful.

Anuksha Sharma. Why isn't this girl more well known? She is cute, can act, and dance! I enjoyed watching her swirl her hips to the "Dum Dum" song. Ranveer Singh isn't bad either. He is good looking and made a good debut choice. I hope to see more of him.

Mini-reviews: part 1 (Hindi/Tamil edition)

Hello everyone!

I started this post a few days ago and got sick, constant coughing :( Therefore, I couldn't finish up this post.

I've been soooooo behind in blogging this year! Urgh. I have been wanting to write up another review but since I'm a visual whore, there was no way I was going to do a full review with *out* any screen caps.

Here's some films I watched but haven't blogged about....
I will continue the Telugu mini-reviews later.

HINDI



Chance Pe Dance (2010)

Sameer (Shahid Kapur) has big dreams to make it big in Mumbai. He meets the choreographer, Tina (Genelia D'Souza), at an audition and ends up being in a film with her. However, his world turns upside when he ends up homeless and jobless. With the encouragement and help of Tina, he ends up putting his life back together and participate in a tv talent show.



I've been wanting to see Shahid and Genelia in a film together for the longest. He has a babyface and unfortunately, most of the heroines opposite him look too old for him with the exception of Amrita Rao and Ayesha Takia. Therefore, I was looking forward to the Shahid-Genelia jodi. However, this movie did not live up to my expectations.

Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad film but it's not a good one either, so it's meh. I wanted to see more dancing. I was so disappointed with the choreography. Shahid is a fabulous dancer but the film didn't portray his dancing skills.



I Hate Luv Storys (2010)

Simran (Sonam Kapoor) has the perfect life! She has a loveable fiance, Raj (Sameer Dattani) who is exactly like her. Both love being in love and live a fairytale life. Raj is her prince charming, everything who she has ever dreamed of. But why does she second-guess herself when she meets Jay (Imraan Khan), a guy who is nothing like her Prince Charming? He is hates anything to do with love!



Even though my brief synopsis may be focused on Sonam, it isn't. The film is all about Imraan! He does really good in his role and has cute facial expression. Sonam is gorgeous and has strong fashion-sense but her acting needs to be worked on. Sameer is cute but was just there.

Direction is weak. Storyline is nothing new but that has never stopped me for loving a film before. I am completely in love with the soundtrack. I don't hate love stories. I just don't care for I Hate Luv Storys.

TAMIL



Ayan (2009)

Deva (Surya) is a cool, slick smuggler and works for Dass (Prabhu Ganesan), who Deva's mother (Renuka) does not approve of. She does not understand why a smart guy like Deva who has a Masters Degree would do illegal things for quick cash. She wants him to have a government job instead.

Chitti (Jegan) joins forces with Dass and Deva. Kamalesh (Akashdeep Saigal) is a jealous foe who wants to be on top and tries to take down the trio.
Deva falls for Yamuna (Tamannah Batia), Chitti's younger sister.



I haven't seen a fun-filled masala film like this in a while. Everything about it, I loved! Surya looks hotter with age. That man is just too good-looking! I had to wipe my drool off several times! Even though Surya is more than a decade older than Tamannah, I couldn't see it. He looks that good. Tamannah is one of my favorite actresses. I've loved her in everything I've seen! Cannot wait to see her with my favorite hottie next! That jodi will be sizzling!

Everything from the storyline to the direction to the songs to the acting were on point. What I love most is seeing how gorgeous Malaysia and Congo are. I cannot complain at all. I just want more affordable, accessible Tamil dvds for me to buy :D



Chinna (2005)

Chinna (Arjun) is a rowdy to be feared and don't care for anyone. All this changed when he met Gayathri (Sneha). He ends up going to jail and Gayathri is forced to marry someone else. What happens when he gets out of jail and comes back to Gayathri's life?



Since I have the Arjun crush, I watched this film for Arjun Sarja. I was stoked to find out that Sneha is in the film too. However, this movie, I would not recommend to anyone. Only watch if you're a fan of Arjun or Sneha. I was extremley disappointed. Sneha had the most fickle character ever. Arjun was good but even he couldn't save the film for me. Total Bore!



Dhool (2003)

Even though Arumugham (Vikram) is uneducated, he has a strong heart and mind to become the leader to take down a factory that is polluting his village's water. He, along with his grandmother and Eeswari (Jyothika), goes to Chennai to meet Minister Kaalapaandi (Sayaji Shinde) to alert him of the situation.



Overall, the film is good. However, I preferred the second half over the first. The first half was silly with Eeswari and her love-hate relationship with Arumugham. Adding the sexy Swapna to the love-hate angle just made it more comical. I didn't really care for it and found Eeswari very annoying! The second half focused more on the plot of the crooked politicians and government.

Vikram is a handsome man but I don't drool for him like a lot of my online friends do. Besides being a pleasure to look at on screen, he is a good actor. I love Jyothika but disliked her childish character. Reema Sen was good to see and looking lovely.
Definitely worth a watch but I don't love it.

My horror mini-reviews

Since I haven’t really been “reviewing” and more fantasy casting for Bunny-Cherry remakes wish, I thought I would blog about the four horror films I saw a few weeks ago.

For those who know me, I’m a huuuuuge horror fan. I love it. I don’t get scared easily. Maybe because I’ve watched so many that I could predict the storyline and/or what is coming up. I watch a lot of Asian (Thai, Hong Kong, Japanese, Korean, Filipino) horrors.

The horror genre is not popular in Indian cinema. There have been a few films released throughout the years but many fail at the box office.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa
(Hindi)



Rumors of an ancestral palace located in a small village that is believed to be haunted by a ghost. Original storyline is from the Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu. It has also been remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is just the Hindi version. I haven’t seen either prior versions before, but overall, I did enjoy it. However, I did have one minor problem. Since Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a horror film, I didn’t like the comedy parts thrown in. I know I like masala films but not in horror films! Take Raaz for instance, the film had gorgeous songs but didn’t shift away from the feel of the film. I felt it lacked in that department. The acting was great from everyone. The costumes and cinematography are breath-taking.

(Hindi)



Click is the Bollywood version of the famous Thai horror, Shutter. Besides a Hindi remake, there has been several remakes - Shutter (Hollywood), Photo (Telugu), & Sivi (Tamil). It's about seeing a certain ghost in photographs that you take. What does this ghost want? Shreyas Talpade is the reason for me wanting to watch this film. Then I found out that that Sada who I adore was in the film. Honestly, Sneha Ullal is too pretty to be a ghost. I'm a fan of the original and was a bit iffy about watching. However, I finally did. It's okay. Not a bad adaptation BUT....the forgiveness and pace in Click was too melodramatic for a horror film. Why, Bollywood?

Mantra
(Telugu) 



A haunted farmhouse with previous owners and mysterious deaths. No one wants buy it but it must sell! Film started off right with haunting moments. However, it fell through in the middle. Instead of it being focused on Charmi, it switched direction to Sivaji. I like Charmi a lot. However, she looked awful in the film. She is a volumptous, beautiful woman who wore unflattering outfits. The stylist should be fired! And WTF with that "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas? It came out of no where. I was highly disappointed in the film cause it had so much potential..

Shaapit
(Hindi)




A girl is in love and wants to marry her love. However, she can not because she is cursed. She may never marry or death will come. Her lover wants to end this curse and will find a way to be with her. I love the Bhatt’s. It is done the way right with melancholy music that flows with the film. My only problem with the film is the poor lighting on the flashbacks. You could tell there were beautiful costumes but it wasn’t shown with the best lens. A special shoutout to Aditya! He is just too adorable on screen. He reminds me so much of a Filipino actor. For those who may not know, he is the son of the veteran singer, Udit Narayan!

Raqeeb - Khanna.O.Rama part deux with Rahul Khanna

Not many people really paid much attention to my favorite Khanna until the Twitter world. He makes cute, witty tweets that makes you just wanna fall in love him even more :)

Before sources were available on the Internet and even online streaming, I used to have my Desi dose every Saturday mornings watching AVS TV.

That's when and how I discovered the adorable, cutie Rahul Khanna so many years ago.

A lot of people knew about his famous father, Vinod, and younger brother, Akshaye, due to their activeness in films.

I absolutely adore Rahul Khanna since back in the days. Even when he's in supporting roles like Love Aaj Kaal and Wake Up Sid, he still has a special place in my dil :)



Picking out a film for Rahul to start with was a bit difficult for me. Although Rahul is too irresitible in Love Aaj Kaal and Wake Up Sid, I didn't want to choose them because I wanted people to see his other films too. Therefore, I chose Raqeeb and plan to review Bollywood/Hollywood too.



Raqeeb is an Urdu word for "Rival."

The film is about three guys who are in love with one woman.



Meet Bachelor #1 - Remo
He is a rich businessman and is the owner of a security software company who is too busy for a love life



Rahul Khanna - I couldn't resist getting caps of Rahul smiling. I love his smile!!!



Meet Bachelor #2 - Siddharth
He works with Remo and is his sidekick. Why is he only second best?



Sharman Joshi - underrated actor who should be cast more in films! A few films which I loved him in - Golmaal, Life in a Metro, Rang De Basanti...
He looks so much like Saif Ali Khan, to me.



Meet Bachelor #3 - Sunny
He is a struggling actor trying to get a gig.



Jimmy Shergill - another underrated actor who should be cast more in films too! A few films which I loved him in - Maachis, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Strangers...



Meet the apple of the three guys' eyes, Sophie.
She is gorgeous and make the mean weak.



Tanushree Dutta - the former Miss India Universe contestant was good in Chocolate and Aashiq Banaya Apne

Even the makeup coming from the water was a bit much, nothing subtle like Bips from Jism.



Overall, the OST is not that great. The song, "Jaane Kaise" is my favorite to listen and watch (hello, Rahul!)

I just thought the guys (particularly Rahul) looked cute in the ending credits






Tanushree's makeup really bothered me. She is a beautiful woman but was caked on with tons and tons of eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, blush, you name it



Remo had a couple of flipping action scenes, I had a hard time capturing one of them and could only get one still

The film starts off slowly but quickly turned out to be a thriller. Because it's a thriller, what does that mean? Someone is going to die? Someone is plotting against someone else? Watch it!

Overall, Raqeeb is not a must-watch film, but it's worth watching at least once. I love thrillers and enjoyed it for the second half.



Rahul is the main reason for the film to work for his natural acting. Sharman was a pleasure to see but was overshadowed by Rahul. Jimmy is a good actor but don't get enough props and was kinda wasted in this film. Tanushree has the looks and does decent in her part.
