Nicki's wish - Bollywood to remake of "27 Dresses"

Those of you who follow me on Twitter know that I couldn't find my Photoshop Cd and was having computer viruses problems forcing me to re-format my my desktop computer. In addition to that, my laptop's cd drive is corrupted. Great, just great!

But in the meantime, another post.....my remake wish.

The dvd of 27 Dresses has been just laying around for months. A co-worker gave it to me and thought I'll be interestesd. The other day, I finally saw it. I absolutely looooooved it. I even saw it twice. Second time with hubby. He likes it too!

I want to see 27 Dresses in a Bollywood remake. Yes, I noticed that my other Bollywood wish of remakes are all female-oriented films, just like my post for Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants & Peach Girl.

But knowing Bollywood, there will be changes and make it a male-oriented film. Take a look at Sweet Home Alabama, which the remake is Barsaat. Instead of letting it focus on a woman, it focused on a man - Bobby Deol. Why? Why not let Bips or Priya be the main star? If you are going to remake and keep most of the script, then do it even better!

Anyways, I hope that one day, I get to see more female-oriented films. And not just female-oriented films focusing on women suffering. Ahem, Chandni Bar, Ek Hassena Thi, etc. Could we have a light-hearted romantic comedy? None of the men rescuing the women at the end of the day. Let her be strong-minded, please!

27 Dresses is the story about Jane, who has been a bride's maid 27 times and waits patiently for her prince charming to sweep her off her feet.

Jane is the unselfish girl-next-door. She is always there for everyone. Never saying no to anyone's requests and needs, she always goes beyond expectations as a bride's maid and her friends. Everyone at work knows she's in love with her boss, George, except for him.

When I saw Jane, I immediately thought of Ayesha Takia Azmi. Ayesha has such a natural, refreshing, youthful look and can act. She's one of the most underrated actress in Bollywood. From Tarzaan - The Wonder Car to Dor to 8x10 Tasveer, she could easily pull it off. Playing a role like this reminds me of her Socha Naa Tha and Dil Maanga More days.

George, Jane's boss. He's the perfect guy. Plus the guy Jane's in love with. Why not? Any woman would fall in love with him. He's handsome, successful, loves animals, and does charity work.

Arjun Rampal would fit perfectly as George. For some reason, he does best when he's given more of a side role. But with this role, fans will still see the sweet, good-looking guy like from Tehzeeb.

Jane's younger sassy, sexy sister, Tess, comes to live with her. To Jane's surprise, George and Tess starts to fall in love and become a couple.

Bollywood don't know who Ileana D'Cruz is but she's very popular in Tollywood. Besides a lot of South Indian actresses have been making their mark in Bollywood. I'm waiting for Ileana's turn. She has a innocent look with a sexy vibe. I've only seen her in Pokiri but think she would be perfect as Ayesha's younger sister. Having her paired off with Arjun would also be very interesting.

Casey is Jane's BFF. She's fiesty but loves her BFF.

Kangana would be perfect! Just like Jane and Casey both are opposites but always there for each other. I would love for Ayesha and Kangana to be cast as BFFs.

Kevin is the adorable, cute writer who starts to have a soft spot for Jane when he gets to know her.

Why not Abhay Deol? I could totally see him pull it off. Plus I would love to see him and Ayesha together again. They make a cute jodi. I want more Socha Naa Tha.

This is just my silly remake wish but wouldn't this cast be awesome? 27 Dresses will be one of my guilty-pleasure movies.

8x10 Tasveer - why isn't Akki given more props?

This past weekend was a horror/thriller filmfeset. On Saturday, I re-watched the Korean horror classic, A Tale of Two Sisters. Then on Sunday, I watched 8x10 Tasveer. Just wanted to keep in the similar genre. Honestly, I did not hear anything about this film. There was not much publicity and promotion for it.

Jai (Akshay Kumar) has a gift, a special power. If a tasveer (photo) is given to him, he is able to to look at the it and become that person, at that place, at that time. He sees the world through that person's eyes who he enters into.

Having powers is great, right? It could be. But to use it because your father accidently died? Wait, a minute...what if he was murdered? Now, Jai must find the truth!

Akshay Kumar, aka Mr. Khiladi, is in a handful of movies yearly. Does this guy ever take a break? Sadly, with all these films, only a few are memorable. Regardless I think he's awesome. I'm not a huuuge fan of his but I do appreciate his work.

Jai loves his job. He works for the EPS (Environmental Protection Society). He also has powers that not a lot of people are aware of, or would ever believe

Since this film was low budget, I did not pay much attention the cast, except knowing that Akki was in the film. It was a pleasant surprise to see Ayesha in the film! I almost forgot she got married. Thought it was cute she used her marital surname as well :)

Sheila (Ayesha Takia Azmi) is Jai's girlfriend.

Jai keeps having this dream? What does it mean?

Why does Jai keep having these dreams? Must he find out what really happened to his father? It wasn't an "accident" like everyone claimed? Was he murdered? He keeps ending up at his parents' home.

Jatin Puri (Benjamin Gilani) is Jai's father who died on the boat.

Jatin and his business partners were drinking on the boat, Golmaal, when he died.

The last time Jatin was alive. The photograph of the business partners. Jai has to, no, he must enter the photo.

Savitri (Sharmila Tagore), Jai's mother, and one of the last ones to see her husband alive. She was the one who took the picture on the boat. Is she the murderer? Or any part of it?

Sundar (Anant Mahadevan) is one of the business partners and one of the last ones to see Jatin alive. Is he the murderer? Or any part of it?

Anil (Girish Karand) is one of the business partners and one of the last ones to see Jatin alive. Is he the murderer? Or any part of it?

Adit (Rushad Rana) is one of the business partners and one of the last ones to see Jatin alive. Is he the murderer? Or any part of it?

Doesn't he look like Saif, mix in with a little of Sharman Joshi? I looked at his filmography, he was in Super Star? I don't remember him at all.

Happibullah aka Happi, with an I (Javed Jaffrey). Ex-cop who believes that Jatin was murdered. Plus he has a special place for Jatin in his heart since Jatin took him in and helped him when he first came to Canada.

Jai must find the truth! It doesn't hurt to find out, right?

Even though the film had a full soundtrack, only one song made it in the movie. I'm glad it was only one and no more. In addition, it was only a background score.

"Kuchh Is Tarah"
Jai and Sheila, deeply in love

But there is the ending credit, which is also the promotional music video for the film. Song is by Bohemia, with Akki in a hip hop avatar who is looking really yummy.

Watch Below

Overall, I thought it was a very entertaining film that kept me wanting to know what will happen next. I watched it with a few friends and all of them enjoyed it. In addition, I converted a few more Bollywood watchers :)

Now, why isn't Akki given more props? Just because he doesn't play the same roles over and over like some of the other stars doesn't mean he has that star quality. I've always found him underrated. And I stand by that. Still. Mr. Khiladi deserves more than what he is given. Of course, like all stars, he has his share of films to stay away from. But in all, he has variety in his work.

Nicki's wish - Bollywood to remake "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood0.jpg

A couple of nights ago, I ended up watching The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants on Lifetime TV. When I first saw the movie on dvd several years ago when it first became available to watch, I absolutely loved it. Little did I know that I would fall in love with each one of the girls on-screen. Later I learn the movie is based on the best-selling young adult novels, with the same title plus four books total in series, by Ann Brashares. The sequel isn't as good as the prequel but it's still cute. Right now, I'm dying to read the series. I did read that the first movie follows the first book but the sequel combines the second and third parts of the book but mostly follows the fourth book.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood00.jpg

Anyways, purpose of this post is for me to rant about how I would like to see Bollywood take on more movies with female friendship -- that would be sooo wonderful!! In the movie/book, it's about four girl friends who are have known each other since birth and are best friends in high school but ends up spending their summers finding themselves, their own identity. Before heading their own separate ways for the summer, they end up finding this "magical jean" that miracously fits each one of the girls. This is strange since all four of them have different body shapes. The girls all agree to share the magical jeans on their own journeys to bring them good luck. After one of the girl's week is over, she must mail to the next one and do so throughout the summer.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/Sisterhood3.jpg

Of course, Bollywood ends up adding its own flavor and oomph to make it different. Instead of a high school feel, I would rather have an end-of-college feel where each one of the girls would find her own identity.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood6.jpg

With my thought-processing mind, this is how I would cast each girl with a few twirks of my own. Not thinking too much about casting the other people in the movie, circling the characters from the movie.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood1.jpg

Bipasha Basu as Bridget, the jock

Bridget is beautiful, athletic, independent, daring, and courageous. Her friends look at her as the strongest but she actually is very vulnerable. Her quick-non-thinking decisions end up hurting herself. Her mother committed suicide not too long ago and this has hurt Bridget. However, she doesn't show her emotions and drifts away from her father and twin brother. The long, beautiful, long blonde hair is one of Bridget's physical appeal but others look at her as a dumb blonde. She is very well-toned and is really good at playing soccer. During the summer, she ends up going to soccer camp and ends up meeting a really good young soccer coach name Eric. Both end up having some feelings for each other. Why does Bridget end up being unsure of her feelings? How come her impulsive decisions make her self-destruct?

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/bipasha.jpg

Bipasha is perfect because of her athletic look. She is Brand Ambassador of Reebok and known as the sexiest women. During the shooting of Dhan Dhana Goal, she played soccer with her beau, John Abraham. Instead of Bipasha having long, blonde hair, I would prefer the story focus on her dark skin. Even though she is beautiful and athletic, others will still snub her because of her dark skin. Plus with Bips' performance in Chehraa, I can see her as the girl who seems so strong but hides all her emotions inside. Add in the sexy business woman in a man's world in Corporate, who has tough skin but sensitive side.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/Sisterhood2.jpg

Aishwarya Rai as Lena, the shy and beautiful

Lena is shy, beautiful, soft-spoken, and takes life too seriously. She has a younger sister, Effie, who is totally different from her -- she's outgoing and flaunts her sexuality. But they do get along, although Effie doesn't feel close to Lena. In Lena's spare time, she draws and is a wonderful artist. With a Greek heritage, Lena ends up spending her summer in Greece with her grandparents. Upon arriving there, she ends up meeting Koscos, who is infatuated with her beauty. Because she thinks this is the only reason why he is interested, she decides to dislike him. On top of that, Koscos' grandparents and her grandparents do not get a long. It would not be right. However, Lena is falling for him. She doesn't understand why she can not speak up and stand up for herself. Her other three friends are definitely more out-going and speaks their minds, but why can't she do the same thing?

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/aishwarya0.jpg

Aishwarya is perfect because of her praised beauty. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world and took the Miss World title. Instead of a Greek background, since Aish was born in Mangalore, the story would be interesting to see Aishwarya visit her grandparents there. Aish is not known to be a great actress but she has given good performances in films like Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Choker Bali -- I can see her as the girl who is beautiful and shy who finally ends up speaking up for herself.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood.jpg

Genelia D'Souza as Tibby, the Rebel

Tibby is the rebel, wears black clothing with streaks of blue hair and piercings, and the only friend who ends up staying back home while her three best girl friends are in another place having fun in the summer. That sucks! Therefore, she ends up recording a "suckamentory." She loves filming and ends up meeting a 12-years-old girl, Bailey. Great, a little girl to tag-a-long. She already have young siblings and don't need another youngster to tag with her. For some reason, Bailey loves hanging with Tibby and volunteers a lot of her time to help Tibby with her movie. Can a young girl teach Tibby that life doesn't have to suck all the time and make the best of what you have?

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/genelia0.jpg

Thinking of someone to cast as Tibby was a hard choice. When I was thinking back of all the sassy girls I liked on-screen, I finally came to a conclusion - Genelia. Why not? She has that spunk. That sassiness I love in the films I've seen of hers. Bollywood has only seen her shine in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. They have yet to see her in Kollywood - Sachien- and Tollywood - Happy & Bommarillu. Plus she has sported that blue-streak-highlight look in the Kollywood movie, Boys, which I have yet to see!

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/SisterhoodPic4.jpg

Ayesha Takia as Carmen, the Vivicious and Hot-Tempered

Carmen is the half Caucasian, half Puerto Rican friend who consistently brings the four best friends together. On top of that, she's vivicious, hot-tempered, moody, sensitive, you name it. She is the most curvacious one saying the jeans won't fit her but it does! Her life is thrown upside down when her father decides to re-marry a beautiful, blonde woman leaving her Latino mother, who she is really close to, and her behind. This makes Carmen believe her father was "upgrading" to a better life since she will have a beautiful step-sister as well. Why can't Carmen tell her father how she truly feels inside? Why is it easier to get mad at people you love?

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/ayesha0.jpg

Initially, I was thinking about Genelia as Carmen. But I had to think of a more curvacious Bollywood actress. Therefore, I finally came down to Ayesha. Plus it helps Ayesha has a mix heritage -- her father Gujarti and her mother is half British, half Maharashtrian. Ayesha can pull off the hot-tempered girl. She is actually quite underrated. To me, Carmen is the backbone of the sisterhood with the strongest and interesting part. Ayesha has played in different roles -- from Socha Na Tha to Dor, she has proven her versatility.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll291/blogger_images1/Sisterhood/sisterhood5.jpg

Every now and then, I watch a Hollywood movie and wish to see it in Bollywood. This film is one of them.
