Nicki's top 15 favorite *Item Girl songs*

Out of boredom, I thought about my top favorite Item Girl songs. To me, most of them are the best songs from the soundtrack. Especially if you want an upbeat song and just wanting to just get up and dance. Whether the song is just a dream, at a club, or a party, it features a hot & sexy girl dancing.

The term "item girl" now refers to any girl who looks good and shows off. However, to me, it still means that the girl is just there to make a special guest appearance and dance strictly for the song.

I did not include any oldies. Just because I know Helen is the queen of them and did not want to include her in 1 - 15. :)

Nor did I include any girls who did 30 seconds appearance in a song. Girl must be featured in the entire song.

Tried hard to think of different songs featuring a different girl.

My top 15 favorite Item Girl songs.

"Phoonk De" -
No Smoking
Bipasha Basu
First of all, Bips is not known to be a dancer. However, I must start my playlist with her. The item number not only hyped up the real relationship of John and Bipasha, yet they sizzled on-screen, as well. Too bad the song was the ending credits of the film. Not enough JoBi for me. :) No, I did not include her two wonderful songs from Omkara - "Beedi" & "Namak" because Bips was more than an item girl in the film.

"Shut Up and Bounce" - Dostana
Shilpa Shetty
Debated between this song and "Main Aayi Hoon Up Bihar" - Shool, but finally decided on "Shut Up and Bounce" - Dostana just because Shilpa is hotter and the Miami location looks fabulous. Shilpa is the underrated hottie. The only actress to maintain her curvaceous body throughout her career. She add extra sexiness to the song to spice up the opening credits.

"Dhoom Dhoom" - Dhoom
Tata Young
Even though the famous Thai singer isn't featured in the movie, Tata was offered the opportunity to sing the English version of the song. Hey, she is still considered an "item girl." For those who didn't know, she is one of the most famous singers in Asia.

"Babuji Zara" - Dum
Yana Gupta
Back then, I remember a lot of people complaining about how vulgar the song was. Many of my Desi girl friends thought so). Despite how the song was pictured, definitely love the music. Yana definitely made her mark in Bollywood with this song. Props to her since she's non-Desi, but she's no Helen! She keeps coming back with more item songs such as "Oh What a Babe" - Rakht but she'll always be remembered for "Babuji."

"Khullam Khulla Pyar" -
Koena Mitra
If only Ganesh Acharya was replaced with a hotter guy, I would have loved looking at this song more. Regardless, an awesome song debuting the sexy Koena. Definitely was one of my girl crushes until she undergone plastic surgery. Nevertheless, still looks good in the song.

"Mujhe Pyaar Ki Chatni" -
Phir Hera Pheri
Dia Mirza
Showing off her sexy dance moves, Dia lights up the stage with the opening credits. Too bad she isn't more well-known cause she is a decent actress and amazing dancer.

"Khallas" -
Isha Koppikar
Too bad Isha is known more for her item number than her acting skills. One of the most played songs at the clubs till this day. Even her "Ishq Samandar" - Kaante is very famous, as well.
Watch Below

"Dilli Ki Sardi" - Zameen
Amrita Arora
Like her older sister, Malaika, Amrita dances her way to a saucy song. Add the hottie Eijaz Khan with her and song is a sure hit!
Watch Below

"Aisa Jadoo" - Khakee
Lara Dutta
With attitude, Lara lights up the stage with her dance moves.
Watch Below

"It's Rocking"- Kya Love Story
Kareena Kapoor
Although I'm not a fan of Kareena's dancing in the song, but she looks stunning and rocks!
Watch Below

"Sharara Sharara" - Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai
Shamita Shetty
Even though she is the less famous Shetty sister, Shamita shows off curves and seduces everyone with her sexy dance moves. Another well-known item song from her is "Chori Pe Chori" - Saathiya.
Watch Below

"Mehboob Mere" - Fiza
Sushmita Sen
Most people will remember the film for this dance number alone. The beautiful Sush dances off her flexible figure. Another well-known item song from her is "Chilman Uthaygee Nahi" - Kisna.

"Ishq Kamina" - Shakti
Aishwarya Rai
A dream of the most beautiful woman in the world. I am sure many guys have had that dream before. Definitely this song tops over "Kajra Re" - Bunty Aur Babli
Watch Below

"Chamma Chamma" - China Gate
Urmila Matondkar
Without this song, the film would not even sell. Look at how much the film focus on Urmila, only to be disappointed after watching it that she's only in an item song! She re-creates her sexiness in "Mebhooba" - RGV Ki Aaj.
Watch Below

"Chaiya Chaiya" - Dil Se
Malaika Arora-Khan
No surprise why this song is number one. Not only does it feature Shahrukh and Malaika, it has been played again and again at clubs. Plus it has been played in several Hollywood films. When you hear it, you just want to get up and dance. SRK and Malaika tried again to re-create the magic in "Kaal Dhamaal" - Kaal but failed.

Naah...Babuji was ultimate fun, not vulgar. From Bufallow to hot hot videsi avtar. She was just too awesome. If you wake me up at middle of the night, and ask me 'name any item song' I will answer 'Babuji'. Its a riot totally riot. And two versions of song makes it perfect.

And how about Shilpa's 'Main Aayi hoon UP Bihar lootne'' from movie 'Shool'??

Thank God you didn't included 'Kajarare' I feel it is highly overrated. I never find Aish that hot to carry of such song.

Great Post !!

Darshit - I just remember my desi girl friends all thought "Babuji" was vulgar. I guess the way Yana was pictured and stuff. I really like the song a lot though.

I debated between "Main Aayi Hoon" and "Shut and Bounce" but decided to go with the latter because I prefer Shilpa in that song.

Tried to include a different girl in a different song. I thought about doing top 20 but decided the post will be too long, lol.

Oh no. I felt "Kaja Re" is overrated too. Aish looks way better in "Ishq Kamina"

Thanks! I had fun doing this post. Trying to find pics, that was a different story. A few of them, I had to make caps myself.

Hey girl! Cool list- Loved Bips' item numbers in "Omkara" as well.

Also loved Shilpa's song in Dostana-I have it on repeat on my ipod!

And I want to go to a club where they play Chaiya Chaiya!

#s 1 & 2: absolutely, though I am not a fan of Ms Malaika, that song, that video changed the world, as shallow as that sounds :) And I just love Urmila.

Bahut achai list Nicki I'm with you on Urmila that song made me name her'URMILA THE GREAT', she should have been No. 1....LOL

I love mehboob mere, theres a funny english translation of the video here

Nida - Thanks. I thought Bips was more than an item girl in Omakara, but that term sure has changed though. There are clubs in Atlanta that play Desi music. :)

Shweta - Aaaww, I love Malaika but I love sexy MILFs though. Yah! I love Urmila too!

bollywooddeewana - I did see that video of "Mehboob Mere" - my friends made sure I saw it! Ha!

I think Urmi is so underrated. She once tops my favorite actresses. I still love her though.

Well said about Helen! If I made a list like yours, all of Helen's dances would feature from 1 to 15! I'm not a big fan of item songs, especially the ones that we see nowadays. Most of them are "vulgar". Chaiyya Chaiyya is the top choice as of now :)

Great list Nicki. I like most of these songs but in terms of picturisation your #2 and #1 are the only ones I like. The rest are, for the most part, pretty routine stuff - scantily clad "item girl" dancing with a lot of pelvic thrusts! And I love Kajrare kajrare too - probably because Ash rarely looks naughty and doesnt do too many item numbers.

Hey, how bout a list of item numbers done by guys? There are quite a few good ones there - SRK does so many and even Hrithik has done one (that I know of).

bollyviewer - I totally agree. The songs, I love. The picturization is another story.

I thought about the guys but there wasn't many. I'll have to put my thinking cap on, hehe

Thanks thebollywoodfan - and for reminding me about Rasiya. Do you know the name of the girl in the song?

dunkdaft said...

Oh, Rasiya is a lovely song. The girl is Sophia Haq, once a VJ of MTVindia

Thanks Darshit for telling me about Sophia Haq
